2015 Forum Knife Photos

I am guessing the reason the blades may hit is due to a narrow frame if you pean the kick or put something inside you may run the risk of the tip being above the frame, they probably ground the kick so the tip ends up inside of the frame to protect the user

You only put in what's necessary to raise the blade just that tiny amount to keep the blade edge from contacting the spring pin - trim the matchstick or toothpick. Very simple to do with no danger of stabbing/cutting/catching yourself when the blade is closed. It's certainly better than grinding and weakening the spring over the spring pin with a Dremel Tool.

Sounds like a plan

I'd rather have my kick side peened a bit taller than have a recurve- that blade profile isn't one I care for much.
If you bought one and don't like it, I'm sure you can sell it on the Exchange.
If you did not buy one, why do you care?
I bought one, and I care. Mine too has a recurve on the main blade. Plus the wood's grain is filled with buffing compound. Otherwise it's a beautiful knife in a steel I really like. I'm disappointed enough I really don't feel right selling it. Feels like that's just passing my problem onto someone else/an suspecting buyer. This will likely be my first and last forum knife. Underwhelmed.

Haven't received mine yet so I'm holding out hope for a good example. Most of the pictures I've seen look terrific. The recurve is unfortunate but correctable so not really a big deal. Some of the shields, though, look really asymmetrical. That would be a real deal breaker for me.

The shield thing was weird to me. Aren't they stamped?

Sigh. Somebody remind me again why we go through the bother of doing this.

If you have not gotten your knife, then don't complain about what you think you see in another person's picture. At least wait until you get your own knife before you start complaining.

I'm thinking that if you have swirly-figured wood on a serpentine frame, you can't get too hung up on the shield or pivots looking symmetrical. Even if they are, they won't be, depending on what your eye is cluing into, you know?

Here's mine, and I have no complaints, though I like the wood on the pile side better than the shield side. I never buy a knife just to sit in a box and increase in value, but I'm hesitant to carry and use my only example of a Canal Street Cutlery knife.

Dang, I wish I had the money right now, I'd buy that off you to have a user and keep one in the box! I mean, it is a knife, after all!

Well, because some of us are very pleased to have a memento of the forum, created specifically for us, without nit picking it to death LOL...Being very pleased with my knife, I'd like to thank each and every person who helped bring it to fruition, and thanks to Spark, for allowing us to pursue these yearly endeavors. This years rendition will be particularly cherished...

Yeah, that side does have some sweet character, I tried to show the difference from shade to full sunlight, but the sensor in my Canon doesn't do the woodgrain justice. I'm really happy with this years knife.

This is why Frank, in 10 years I've bought 10 knives, has any one been perfect? No, (well a few have ;) ) but every one is a keeper and a user as well as this years will be. I've made may good friends with you fine folks over those years and I appreciate every knife that's been brought to fruition through efforts of all involved in every year's knife.

Thank you you one more time for all your efforts, especially Eric knowing what was ahead of the company he put it all aside and brought us this years gorgeous knife and thank you all for tolerating all the grief that comes with an annual knife, you are all greatly appreciated. ;)

I thought the forum was a place to comment about knives. What is wrong with commenting about a knife, positive or negative and whether you ordered one or not? There are numerous threads about SFOs from dealers registered here wherein people who do not own the knife, didn't order one, or have yet to receive one they have ordered commenting on the knife based on pictures or comments by others who have received the knife. Yeah it is the official forum knife but it should be subject to the same commentary rules about any other knife.

Frankly Frank, I think whoever (or is it whomever) ships the BF Traditional knives next year, if there is one, should include a 10-foot piece of new rope and a razor blade with the knife - just in case the knife doesn't come throat-poppin sharp.

I Just received my two knives and while nothing in life is perfect, I am VERY pleased. This has been a great experience and interaction with my fellow Forum members, from selecting the pattern, steel, and shield, to waiting (im)patiently for the knives to ship. Another hearfelt THANK YOU to Charlie, Barry, Eric, Liam, and everyone else whose work made this possible. I also extend my gratitude and apologies to the mods for putting up with our crap :D.

The grain differences in the Mexican Bocote wood is amazing - you'd need to buy 300 knives to have the complete set of all variations! I like it. OH

I was thinking the same thing as I saw the latest photos! I hope we see more of the variations.
