2015 Forum Knife Photos

Beautiful pics !

I did not order one of these this year, but, I think they ended up being a very handsome knife. :)

Thanks Primble! I take a photo compliment from you very seriously!

Many thanks to Eric & the Canal Street Cutlery crew and... to Liam, Barry and Charlie... to Frank and Gary... and to Kevin (Spark). And thanks to all the members who participated in bringing the 2015 Blade Forums Knife to fruition.

Love 'em!!!

I Just received my two knives and while nothing in life is perfect, I am VERY pleased. This has been a great experience and interaction with my fellow Forum members, from selecting the pattern, steel, and shield, to waiting (im)patiently for the knives to ship. Another hearfelt THANK YOU to Charlie, Barry, Eric, Liam, and everyone else whose work made this possible. I also extend my gratitude and apologies to the mods for putting up with our crap :D.

I really like the knotted grain on the mark side of that second one.

Sigh. Somebody remind me again why we go through the bother of doing this.

Because some of us are happy to receive the results of the exercise, no matter the results. :)

Not sure where I recall this from, but "Don't do good for all, do good for the few."

And to those piss'in and moan'in about this and that...welcome to traditional handmade knives. And shame on you for the public fuss. Class it up!

Lastly, a big thank you to Eric and CSC. It's got to be hard to make the last knives of a brand for such a fickle few. We chose your service and own the results...I consider us blessed.

Signed,

...one of the last sway votes on the shield choice...

(may I have this power in 2016!)

Seems to me the question is: Who's going to start the thread where the 2015 Forum Knife can be discussed?

I don't want to say anything negative about the knife and give the impression that I don't appreciate all the work that went into the knife and the people who did that work. Some people on here should probably get off their high horses though. If people spend their money on a product, wait all year excitedly anticipating it, and expect one thing and then don't get what they expected they should be able to at least talk about it here. To me being hand made would do more to insure you don't have these problems. I've always thought of hand made knives as being higher quality, not an excuse for problems. Again, it is cool that they even bothered to do these and all of this is pretty irrelevant compared to people losing their jobs this time of the year. I wish them all the best and hope that everyone either enjoys their knife or is able to sell them. There look to be a bunch of really nice versions also.

Let's not get hyperbolic. No one waited "all year", nor is anyone saying 'handmade means imperfection'...however reality and idealism meet in the middle of "stuff happens". Look at other brands that struggle with quality, and others that do not.

Given the situation, we're fortunate to get what we ordered; in the business world this is not the norm.

Benefit of the doubt. That's all. And yes, plenty of wonderful samples, mine included.

High road != High horse

Thanks again to everyone involved, great job!

The threads discussing this knife have gone all year, even into last year I believe. Also, I've seen more than once in this thread that these are hand made so the problems are to be expected. Maybe worded differently, but referring to recurved blades and messed up shields. I really don't have much problem with the knife having issues. More with people who are so offended that anyone would mention them. Anyhow, probably best for this to be my last comment in this thread and just enjoy the pictures.

I lied, one more post.

After all the discussion I wanted to thank everyone involved for all of their work. Please don't take overly picky knife people as any lack of appreciation or understanding of all the work on this knife. The sheep's foot blade on this knife is so smooth and the swedges are awesome. Let's see some more pictures and best wishes to everyone at CSC.

More pics please mine hasn't gotten here yet and I need more pics.

I'd like to apologize if I came on too strong, I'm very protective of our volunteers and want them to understand how much they are all really appreciated, to anyone I offended by my comments again I apologize and this is the last space in this thread it'll be brought up. All is good lets see some more bocotey goodness. :)

I for one actually like the slight (well, when it is really slight, there were a few that went a bit too far IMO) recurve to those blades. Since most of the photos seem to show a bit of it, it makes me wonder whether it was part of the design or at least a design implication. One way or another - those photos posted here look amating and I can not wait to receive mine.

Didn't you get the memo? That doesn't fit the preapproved fanboy script so is not allowed.

tdkfm, you can expect a reprimand shortly. What you might be perceiving as problems are actually attempts to make every knife a custom one-off. Only room for rainbows and unicorns here.

Most of us actually did get that so I have left my more detailed opinion for myself for now and will I wait until my copy arrives. I agree though that this is a photo-appreciation thread. Still - nobody should feel awkward starting a new one to discuss the forum knives from different angle.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ this  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hey guys, I apologized, in case you missed it it was post #134. I'll apologize again to you both, leghog and bill2000 if my fanaticism offended you I'm sorry. I'm protective of our knife and proud to have been involved for the last 10 years making these knives if only in the birthing process.:) It's a family member for me made by family so I tend to get defensive of every year's annual knife and especially the family that gave their valuable time to bring us the knife. BTW I'm a fanboy alright but a fanboy for the great folks who sacrifice their time and personal resources to bring us an annual knife ,(insert patriotic fife and drum music here ;) )

If it'll make you guys happy when I get my knife I'll do a review with some good pics and you're welcome to nit pick and bring up any issues you've noticed. That'll be a proper thread for it then. So I apologize to the OP, the Mods and members on this forum, I'm steppin' down off my "high horse", let's get back to the business at hand and back on topic and see some more pics. Anyone have a cear shot inside of the box lid?

No need to apologize to me. I too value the hard work of everybody involved in the process including those that chose to discuss the various options. Like I mentioned in my original post, most of the pictures I've seen show a terrific end product. Anxiously waiting for mine and keeping my fingers crossed. I'm done with this thread.
