Finally finished up my MIL's Christmas gift. Imma wait to send it, tho - her birthday's in 2 weeks. I think the knife will be for Christmas, the little cutting board for her birthday.

I have some more pics that I'll post in the BH knife making thread. IWHAF, you really need to get some pics of your sweet blade in there, too.

Very nice man.

-3° and folks are acting like it's another ice age.

We are actually warmer than you guys are then!! I think its like 9 outside without the windchill. We do have a blizzard warning for most of the day today though. Supposed to be some snow and gusts up to 50mph. I'm glad I'm off of work tonight.

I had -12 on the outside thermometer a few minutes ago. Snow squeaking cold is enough for me.

My favorite little trucker buddy came by the new shop today to pick up and take a ride on his new trike, lol, he was happy as could be as long as he was a rollin, if you stopped to try to get a pic, he was less than photogenic. :D
...

Haha, Excellent! It looks like he's having a ball on the trike.

I'm not convinced I have bad luck. I think that when you pay 100+ for a lighter and it sucks, some people don't want to admit it sucks and tell everyone it's spectacular. it's great when it works. The biggest problem is that it gets hard to light, and if the wind blows slightly in the next county, it goes out and only lights back when the wind stops. To be fair, it probably works great indoors. I wouldn't know. I don't smoke my pipes or cigars inside.

Doc

I only tried the one the guy had over here inside... I can smoke in my basement and there isnt much wind down there LOL..... But it worked very well.

Have you tried getting yours checked by the warranty? For a $100 lighter id take them up on the warranty. I read even when the warranty is up any repair is still under 10 bucks.... But i think at the price point they should have a lifetime warranty instead of 2 years.

If i bought a $100 lighter and it sucked the whole world would know about it before lunch time LOL

Id like to think you got a lemon.... I just cant find any substantial negative reviews on them and id assume that at least a few people would be honest if it really sucked.

Im just trying to justify buying one in my mind... Wont be any time soon but id love to have one as they feel awesome, i like how they function, and they look great... If they are reliable it would be worth it in the long run. I use a lighter multiple times every single day... Its one item that i never leave home without so owning a good one versus a cheapo.... I guess could be similar to going with an expensive watch vs a cheapo watch.... both will tell time, one just looks better doing so.

I can tell what state you're in by the Wawa card in the first frame of the video ;).

People here love their Wawas LOL

Are those Ronson lighters a torch or a soft flame, and are they refillable? I dont care for torches. I know lots of people love them for cigars but i much prefer a soft flame for all my smoking or fire starting needs.

They are a "light" torch - and so windproof. Same with the yellow one I posted. Much better for outdoor use. Don't see how flame type makes a difference, so long as you get lit ;).

Aside from it being -7°, the commute was nice because traffic was pretty light.

Schools were cancelled here for cold, so same thing. I don't mind layering up for the drive in, so I made it in really good time.

it was -4F when I got in the car this morning. Gorgeous, though, with little tumblefogs rolling down the bay when I got to the office.

Misti got me a DMT double sided coarse/fine stone for Xmas. This thing is awesome!! Touched up my 24 and Vic farmer in no time and makes a really nice edge.

Not a great photo, but saw this during my morning commute to Ft Hood. According to the info on the side, it's the world's largest bbq grill built by Johnsonville Brats. I'm wondering if they have 6 foot tongs to reach the back of the grill?
