2015, the snarkiest year yet!

If you leave it on the counter for a few days...... I bet it would get a little stinky :D

Probably, but not as bad as some of the others.

I used to keep my parmigiano on the counter all the time. But this was also when I was using a LOT more of it and a 1 lb wheel would last me about a month.

mmm Parmigiano. We did some spaghetti with Alfredo sauce, and added bacon and peppers for dinner tonight  topped it off with a healthy dosage of Parmigiano

Never ate stinky cheese myself but I do know a funny story about that.

Dude was telling me one time about when he was in the navy. They pulled into port overseas once and a guy bought some stinky (and expensive) stinky cheese. It was in the fridge stinking to high heaven and everyone though it had turned so they hucked it overboard. The guy was pretty pissed.

This was me. Uh, that is, the guy doing the throwing, not the guy doing the buying. :D

ETA: Just remembered that the guy who did the buying ended up getting out of the Navy and became a lawyer in Maine.

I do remember you telling that story, zz... Snark has come full circle...

In other cheese-related news, I heard that my ex-wife's new husband had one of his daughters throw out a wheel of parmigiano. I understand that he was staying in her apartment for a while and he came home one day to be told by his daughter that his cheese had gotten hard so she threw it in the trash.... hahahaha! I really shouldn't get such joy out of another's misfortune, but hey, I'm human...

Thank you, W :) Call me weird, but I find that fun as heck to watch. *thumup*
I found it pretty fun to watch, too....now only if it happened that fast or that easily.

More to the point, didja see the knife at the end of the video? Tang 90 to the blade....first time I've seen that.

If you like stuff like that, check out Instructables.com

They have all kinds of stuff for you DIY monkeys. :D

Lots of planning and editing going on there... I'm quite certain that cutting board took more than 5 minutes to make... ;)

Yup, I've seen knives like that before. Frickin' fascinating, yah?

It's an integral, forged from one chunk of steel... it just happens to have a sideways tang. That's something that a few bladesmiths do, mainly to challenge themselves. It's mighty damn impressive when they get it right.

Whether or not that style provides any performance advantage is open to debate, but there's no question that it demands a great deal of skill and craftsmanship. Whoever made that knife put a boatload of study and practice into it, I'm 100% sure of that. Nothing but respect.

Slow snark last night!

Time to shovel some snow and go to work :thumbdn:

All snarkiness aside for just a second,

Please think a kind thought for a Pirate friend of mine/ours who lost someone very close to him this morning. :( Things are going to be a bit rough for him, for a while. It's kinda just the natural way of things, but it still sucks.

Thanks, guys and gals.

Carry on, though! The best we can do to honor life, is to continue to appreciate and enjoy life, and move forward with strength and love.
