2017 Spyderco Product Guide is now LIVE!

Some of the pricing seems ridiculous. So many S30V w/ G10 knives are at the $200 mark, how? And Lil' Temperance 3 with VG10 and G10 for $192, with a 3 inch blade. I'm sure someone at spyderco has a reason for these prices, but I can't justify spending that on the same steel, handle material, and locks as a PM2, Manix 2, Native 5, etc. etc. etc. for twice the price, just because it's a different shape.

::EDIT:: Seems that all those s30v/g10 ones priced ridiculously high are made in Japan. I guess the Japanese get paid better than American's.
 
Regarding new models in the catalogue, does anyone know when they go on sale? I'm considering the Fish Hunter, a perfect Christmas present:)!

Is there an import duty on made in Japan knives?
 
D'Allara D'Allara D'Allara D'Allara all the way! I see am order of 3 for sure. First production knife order in a VERY long time. Believe last Spyderco I bought was 4 years ago. Only bought 1 other production knife in that 4 years, but that D'Allara will be a MUST have for me.

Soyderco, thank you for reintroducing this iconic model.

I like this one too. I just wonder how much junk that ball spring will collect in the pocket...lint, pocket fuzz etc?

In my experience with the Manix 2 caged ball bearing lock nothing really. I even have a video showing mud barely effects the spring. I actually have that same manix in my pocket now and it has seen a lot of pocket time and its share of neglect in the garden. I can't even remember the last time this knife was oiled. Just wash it and back it goes into the pocket.

The D'Allara is everything that I wish the manix was with regards to less curves, no choil to suite my personal taste.

Was hoping to see the Caribbean Salt coming out and also Salts with the gen 4 texture handles but no luck.

The Q ball is interesting, totally don't see the appeal so many do in the Orobouros.

Something Maxament will be on my 2017 buying agenda, either manix or Native.

I was a bit excited about the Para 3 until I saw the Caly 3 HAP40 and that took away all of my interest in the Para 3 for the time being. I am stoked about that Caly 3. The Meerkat is also a must have, and so is the Baby Jess Horn. I will eventually buy the Police 4. This is the only Police model I have been interested in. I will also get the Temperance 3 at some point. There are many others I would like to have, but these top the list.
 
Anyone have an idea as to why the new Caly 3 is 1.1 oz heavier than the older version?

I agree some of those prices are hard to swallow especially with MAP these days. It ain't what it used to be. The Police 4 is made in Japan and seems like a decent value for a large folder with an exotic steel.

I was floored when I saw the pricing on some models, especially the ATR and Chinook 4.

Keep in mind, however, that the successful models like the PM have to help pay for the retarded ones they put into production like the Introvert...
