2018 BF Traditional Knife

People just assume the forum knife has to be traditional since it's in this sub forum.
It would defeat the purpose of this subforum to make anything other than a traditional knife.

So make a forum knife in the modern sub forum then. That's the point the community only wants a traditional. It's like that every year. I'd rather see the tradition die if modern knives don't get the chance to be a forum knife too.
What is preventing you from attempting to organize a modern forum knife on one of the modern subforums?

Arthritic and weak hands. My dad had to change knives due to arthritis. Several of my folders would proven useless to him because of the pulls.

Most of my 1000+ knives have strong pulls, and I'm dreading the day when arthritis gets the better of me :(

Maybe if we used toe-nail clippers to grip the blades. Or modified hemostats with a hook and a flat. Or put a more commodious handle on our knife-picks.
AARP should have recommendations about this. Might almost be worth rejoining to agitate.

That's why autos and assisted openers were invented. If I had to guess(and I do) I'd say that more people dislike weak pulls than like them by a wide margin.

Okay, It's April, and I'm tired of waiting for Ted to start this thread...

Is there going to be a 2018 Forum Knife?

I talked with Charlie this weekend, and he's kind of surprised no one's brought this up in the last couple months, but acknowledged that if we're to get anything this year it needs to get started pretty quick.

Since Queen's gone, and Canal Street too, that pretty much leaves GEC or possibly Northwoods as the makers of choice. (Case apparently doesn't want to play.) I'm not sure if we'll have any chance of making major choices on what's available or could be, but I think it's time we ask if we're willing to continue this tradition or let it die.

Myself, I'd like to see a forum knife. I'd prefer it to be a way to bring back an old pattern that's fairly uncommon. I'd hope that it would be fairly unique even in a more common pattern. But still, I'd rather have a "BF Knife for 2018" than not have one.

So, to start the ball rolling, I'll offer up these:

A GEC Pattern, hard to come by, but probably more trouble than it's worth:

And this old Remington pattern, even harder to find, but man would I carry the heck out of a modern one of these:

Oh NO! If they go with GEC, We will end up with another 3.5 inch knife. GEC will be fooling around with #15s until October. I prefer a more manly knife.

I like the 301's pulls. :)
I may not have arthritis in my hands yet, (just in my knees, hips, and lower back so far) but I never cared for a knife that I had to fight to open.
Too heavy a pull to me is a safety issue, especially when you're cold and wet.
I prefer a pull no harder than the average 92/93mm SAK. There is no legitimate reason for a heavier pull, in my humble (and probably mistaken) opinion. :)

My dad prefered and carried multi blade knives.

Autos may be traditional. They even made small multi-blade autos back in the day. I believe my paternal grand father had a two blade auto that opened at both ends. No idea what happened to it when he passed. I suspect his middle son snuck it into grandpa's pocket, before they shut the lid.
I was not aware though that there are any assisted opening traditionals.

Something that just crossed my mind: How about one of the makers from Solingen ( Robert Klaas, Böker etc.) (maybe not Böker because of their quality)? Robert Klaas as an example should be cheaper than GEC and a bit more expensive than Buck.
