Avast there meako meako me hearty! You are reminding me that I wish we could have a whaler or a navy knife ('specially with a marlinspike) and it is makin' me poor heart ache.

Arrr, on second thought, heave away! I'll just keep on wishing. A Boston Whaler would also make me happy.

Mike (Knifeswapper), glad to see you involved in this process. The business about collecting and amassing funds toward the future purchase would definitely have tax implications for me though my business as I am taxed on all sales by the state (no deductions for cost). There is also sales tax implications for (at a minimum) folks within the same state as the host dealer. Hope you all understand some of the legal responsibilities beyond just doing the work, being honest, and not making a profit.

If credit cards are used, there are fees that need to be factored into the cost. It literally could be handled with just paper checks or money orders even though that isn't real "modern".

Just so you know, I would prefer a GEC made traditional over a Buck. But I will settle for a Buck if it comes to that.

And they say piracy is in the past.
HAARR HAAAR HAAARRRRR.
Hey Abbydaddy ...i dont know how to the @ thing....I reckon a whaler would make great addition to the bf trad armada.
Very traditional and unusual.
Sadly it would have about as much chance of appearing as an albino dodo.

You running hemp sailcloth on that boat?

After careful consideration, I don't think I'm the right choice for fulfillment person on this venture. I still suspect there are tax considerations I'm overlooking; that's my primary reason.

I don't know if other folks are considering working with knifeswapper and pairing up to champion a GEC forum knife for 2018, but if there are they have my full support. Its not a project to be undertaken lightly!

Can you or someone involved contact Charlie to see how he handled the tax issue? Just a thought before you decide to step away. Either way, thanks for looking into it!

Gross income comes in, record expenses as accurately as possible and hopefully walk away with a wash.

Kudos to Dadpool for giving it the college try! Completely understandable, and you were brave to consider it.

Thank goodness for skblades skblades and Stephen. Without you and Buck we would be in a fix. I am going to the poll and vote now. I believe you have earned this opportunity.

It's kind of seemed all along that a one year hiatus from GEC was going to happen. As huge of a GEC fan I am, and as much as I would love them to make the 2018 BF knife, I'm excited about the Buck offering, and thank Stephen skblades skblades for getting us to this point with them.

What I'm very excited about is what we can accomplish with a little extra time with GEC for the 2019 knife.

Even the remote possibility that we could get stainless on an original pattern has me giddy.
