Never gets any easier does it? The guilt I feel for the ones I could have/should have voted for..... In the end you just have to go with your gut feeling. In no particular order:

14-1 Antunes - This young man's talent and skill is off the charts. It's a shame he didn't post some of the other pieces he did this year.
14-7 Filicietti - Just the right amount of dazzle and restraint. Great proportions and elegant details.
14-8 Klein - Unusual but not outrageous. Unique style with attractive color palette. Fantastic details all in balance.
42-1 Mirable - Distinctive, imposing and just plain nasty.
46-3 Quesenberry - Mike has learned all the lessons. Great skill, composition, style, grace, flow and details.
52-2 DesRosiers - Just about as big a blade as you can put a handle on without it looking like a cartoon. I like big blades. Then there's also the fact that it's an integral with fantastic pattern welds.
53-1 Melicharek - Petr's style is identifiable from across the room. This piece is creative, stylish and rich with details. And I like that his sheaths are designed with the knife.

#22/3 Paul DiStefano - You dont need damascus to let our jaws drop. The notch on the handle perfectly correlates with the pattern on the blade
#48/2 David Lisch - stunning handle
#52/2 Adam DesRosiers - a hypnotic pattern and amazing maker skills
#53 Petr Melicharek - thoughtful, elegant, rich but not exaggerated

This thread is the year's highlight......always informative and inspiring,
and certainly no small effort.....Thanks Roger.....

I will make seven makers pleased and then p**s off the rest of my clients when I vote. So sue me. :p

I like unconventional. Keeping with my love of Vehicles and Knives I will draw comparisons....

Post 5/#1: Rick Marchand - Persian Bowie
Rick's work always has that rough unconventional look. This time it's a classic British car: The Morgan three-wheeler with a modern V-twin

Post 14/#5: Songrit Mawan
I LOVE how he took this classic 'coffin' bowie into the present. The handle and the mosaic steel are SO futuristic. To wit: Modern Triumph Bonneville 'bobber'.

Post 14/#8: Kevin Klein
Like NOTHING else in its class, Kevin makes curves and lines and materials combine where you wouldn't consider, but WOULD appreciate.

Post 22/ #3: Paul DiStefano
This is SO visceral and lethal. When the '69 Corvette 427 ZL1 drives into a Cars & Coffee, everyone takes a step back and places their hand on their chest. OMG!

Post 44/ #2: Matt Parkinson, JS
This dirk is SO badass and yet campy. If the point won't get you, then the goblins will. A fave!

Post 46/ #1: Adam Balkovic
Adam takes a modern twist of MODERN materials and styling to create a bowie which makes no apologies for it's technology. In fact, it exploits them. The Pagani Huayra does the same.

Post 46/ #4: Noah Vachon
Noah who?! That was my awakening as well. This contender comes out of Canada and utilizes EVERY styling cue to JUST the right amount of intention and bravado. The rookie might upset!
The Bentley Continental GT is classy BOLD and daring.

Aaaaand we are closed for voting. I left it open until tabulation was complete because voting was historically close. Which made my job historically hard!:p In fact, ties for the final slot means we have what I believe is a historical number of finalists! With two knives from one maker!

Gimme a minute to organize - announcement coming forthwith....

As always, a separate thread will be forthcoming just as soon as I can figure out how to do a poll with the new forum software (Lorien has done those for years). I'll try to make that happen promptly, but might need a drink first.
