2018 knife resolutions

Sell more knives. I have too many and the thought of all the ones I don't use bothers me as much or more than the finance.

I am already conservative with my buying as it is, so I have no resolutions that will curb my spending. I cycled through quite a few knives this year experimenting to find what I do/don't like. I think for next year I will actually improve my (slim, 2 knives)collection, I've got my eye on possible 2018 new releases, maybe a PM2 or Millie, and if all goes well, a CRK Sebenza 21.

You readin' this, boys? Better learn how to make fidget spinners, tops and one-finger knucks!

Just kidding~ :D

Next year I resolve to back off of extremely time-consuming custom projects, and finally realize the perfected ti sword design, which is the whole point of all of my work.

...Except for this one custom project under way, a seven-foot long [Classified] for [Classified]. And a couple others, including the pair of [Classified] with matching bulletproof [Classified]. Bah! Damn it's hard to say no to a great custom idea!

I resolve to not buy a knife in 2018. I doubt I'll make it, but I bought a crazy amount of knives in 2017 and really only use a handful of them. A year without buying a knife would probably be a good idea. I should probably extend this resolution to guns as well, but let's try this one step at a time.

No new knives in 2018.
I bet you can go without a new knife next year! I noticed you didn't mention machetes, tomahawks, axes, and sharpening gear!

Futile post at this time , already have 9 Busse in the Q from OPW2-2 so I can't stop now.
I don't have a problem so no need for a resolution right?
Happy New Year CM

Single goal this year, upgrade from my wonderful Tojiro chef knife with a worthy replacement. After cooking lessons and practice, I'm actually enough of a cook (in my mind, of course) to "deserve" an upgrade. I'm hoping it will be my first custom knife, but open to all possibilities! Pretty excited.

I am in the same boat of planning to upgrade my chefs knife. Please share what you eventually choose.

Promise yourself that the only money that you will spend on knives and guns is from selling off stuff that you already own.By doing this you can enjoy both hobbies and not spend any new money. This way you can still buy new stuff, another way is to do trades. This works for me and I don't add to the pot. My tastes have also changed so most times I need to sell a few to buy one. My cost level has gone up and I think I am going to get more midtech's. I also think I will stay far away from customs, too many horror of people waiting years after paying the full price in advance and never see their knives.

No more folders and only two more fixed blades....on top of the ones I already have on order. And if I want another folder or fixed blade, it has to come out of the money I make by selling knives, or within reason. No selling a cheap knife, and buying a custom loophole. $100 give or take MAX.
The rest of them I have to make myself

I've spent the last few years trying lots of different knives. That has resulted in a great deal of buying and selling. It's been fun, and I've learned much. However, now that I have a good sense of what I like, I intend to make purchases that are careful and committed.

"Is this a knife that suits me? Is this a knife that I'll likely enjoy using? Can I see myself keeping this knife for the long haul?"

I have no doubt that I'll still sell some of my purchases. I'm just not interested in trying lots of different knives the way that I once was. I'm far more interested in practical usage and performance now.

I have at least, now, 8 practical folders. I will EDC these as needed and where practical.
We shall see where 2018 leads me.
