Hi All. I've kept myself out of discussion to this point, mostly because I haven't had the time to check things out. When I accepted the challenge last year, time was my friend. Not to go into all the details, but between a new baby, SK, a new business and my regular work, my life has become rather hectic. It was a miracle, and a small army, that helped get this forum knife shipped out to everyone.

I think the process is a blast, and I do not want to see the knife die before all of the dots have been completed, so I'd be willing to throw myself and Buck into the ring. If we start early enough and pace the polls out, I believe it's doable with my schedule. I may not be able to be as involved in the actual discussions as I was this last time, but think that now that we have been through it once, the process might be smoother (wishful thinking?).

My thoughts to make the process "easier" would be to choose a fixed blade model for this year's knife. Take that as you will. The collective can decide if that is a good choice or not. Just a suggestion from my end!

There are way to many "Me Too" votes.. SOS is safe I guess...

Buck 113 fixed blade would be perfect. Under a hundred bucks.

Fixed is just an option, and one that would much easier to manage. If the forum chooses to go another route then I"m happy with the will of the group. Let's see how things shake out over the next little bit. If I'm going to jump back into the mix, I'll need to organize with the mods.

If you go with a fixed blade you probably won't have to order too many of them :p

Less to ship wouldn't be a bad thing from my perspective! :D:p Shout out to my team for helping me get all those knives out. We basically had a sweat shop.

I've been thinking long and hard about this and I'm down with who ever is most likely to be so ditzy that they screw up the blade order and accidentally order M4 for the blade / heat treat.
I might get so excited I buy another membership.

Buck introduced the 212 Ranger recently, this one is mine...as it came from Buck. I just got it today and I will say it feels good in the hand. More handle than a 102, and great blade shape.

I have another, a special edition, David Yellowhorse, that he made for the BCCI 30th Anniversary. That has W2 steel so I know that steel would be on the table. Here they are... Preston

That Buck 212 really does look like a sweet little knife, one that I might have to try and hunt down regardless of whether it becomes the choice for a forum knife or not.

I've been doing some thinking on this forum knife topic. This will be the third year that I have been actively involved in the conversation and the 4th forum knife that I will have acquired (if indeed one gets produced this year). The 2017 discussion was my first foray and I've been reflecting some on what sets me apart today from how I approached the topic then. I believe that I am less opinionated (a relative term ;)), a bit more indifferent, and in possession of a far greater respect for the folks who work so hard and endure so much on our behalf in order to get this off the ground.

Though I will certainly let my voice be heard when the time comes to make a decision, I will be happy with whatever is decided on, whether it be an undisclosed GEC pattern, a sweet little Buck fixed blade, or a dandy little folder from across the pond. What I find important is seeing the stamp to its conclusion, particularly to the benefit of those who have been here since it started, and in the process, engaging in respectful, yet meaningful discourse.

Until the powers that be tell us what our options are, I will patiently reserve comment and enjoy the various discussions and good-natured spitballing. I find all of the ideas rather interesting.

Thanks for everything you did to get us the 2018 BF knife and thank you for again throwing your hat in the ring this year. You must be a glutton for punishment. :P

I would be absolutely STOKED to see a fixed blade as this years forum knife... Particularly if it was done by Buck! They've been knocking it out of the park lately and their customer support is a thing of beauty.

How about a Buck 102 with their new ebony from Taylor (or maybe micarta) and 5160 steel?
