2019 BUCK Forum Knife

Wait, but I thought we “don’t need another ‘me too’ knife”?

Oh, I did indeed misread that, Preston. My apologies.

You raise an interesting point though. It was stated in the polling thread that other forum knives have been done outside of the traditionals sub so I'd be curious what the definitive word on that would be. Seems odd that if the traditionals forum Knife is THE BladeForums forum Knife, then that certainly alienates so many other knife enthusiasts ...
Me too. My 'search forum' skills are on the low end of what skill set I have...somebody else needs to dig that up.

Dylan I took what we were told as that it(the knife) is not the 'traditionals forum knife' it is the Blade Forum Knife.

Preston, I'm sitting here trying to fathom why bladeforums would care if "we", the buck forum, got their own knife. 300, you out there? Me, I'd like us to get a really cool 118...
or try to get bcci to make more of a "voted" knife.

Somebody with a better memory and search skills than I will have to find those posts! That conversation was within this forum.

That is my understanding as well. My point being is that I'm not sure why the other groups within BladeForums aren't able to host a forum Knife should they wish. Or maybe they can, I don't know for sure.

Could it be that Spark, Frank and Gary want to contain the chaos as best they can?:D Just joshing!!

Isn't that what Stephen at SK Blades does? He's here asking for input on what we would like to see. The only issue is... the knives don't say "forum knife" on them BUT in his description on his website he says something like ... "inspired/designed by the "knife knuts" at BladeForums.com"

Me Too..as in I got a GEC.. Me too..
Everyone posting here in the Buck forum has a Buck...Me too.

I mean seriously, it's been a little confusing and maybe territorial hackles are raised. I always thought that the Traditional Forum Knife was offered by the Traditional forum. Otherwise, as a general Bladeforums knife we could have one made by Spyderco or Kershaw. Maybe an idea going forward would be for a forum knife to be hosted by different subforums each year. Available to any BF member, but the polls and discussion would take place here with Buck one year, over in Spyderco the next...

I think that is the difference. To have the "Bladeforums" stamp, and be sold here it has to be approved by site owner Spark, and adhere to his rules.

Me Too..as in I got a GEC.. Me too..

GEC has produced right around 210k knives since 2006.

In December of 2017, Buck produced the 1.5 millionth knife made in their Post Falls, ID facility, which opened in 2005.

(Edited to correct GEC's production total; I was looking at an incomplete set of data.)

Get on over to the traditionals forum and vote for the Buck Vanguard to be the 2019 Bladeforums yearly knife! This is a great opportunity to get a custom Buck 192 for the BF community, and we get to chose the spec's.!!! :D:D:D:D

Thanks for letting us know about the poll. You unnecessary took flack for coming here to tell us about it. I own and like knives from each manufacturer in the race. I voted for the one I wanted most. You should be able to as well.

As far as I'm concerned the "Me Too.." comments can go both ways. There are a lot of Buck 192 Vanguards out there and there are a lot of GEC sheepsfoot single blades out there. So what, who cares is my point.

Got it..:D Some times meanings are lost from the brain to the keyboard to the post.. I believe that's what happened here..:D

I feel like the only traditional brand in more people’s pockets than Buck is probably Victorinox.
You may be right about Victorinox, but I would bet there are more Case knives than traditional Buck knives in people's pockets. Buck doesn't make that many traditional pocket knives. I'm not counting the 110 since that is a belt knife. And you can get Case knives in a lot more places. Seems like every hardware store and farm and ranch supply store have displays. Also some gun shops, pawn shops, etc. I like all three brands.

Ah, I forgot Case. I would absolutely count the 110 as a traditional, though. And the 119. Belt knives and fixed blades are pretty traditional.

Oh, yes, the 110 and 119 are traditional. Two of my favorites. But my point was they're not POCKET knives, even though I suppose some might carry a 110 in a pocket. It's sold with a sheath, though.
Buck has some great small lockbacks too that are traditional and would fit in a pocket.
I am glad Buck is still around and that they still make many of their knives here in the USA. Don't want them to fold like Schrade, Queen, etc.
