2019 BUCK Forum Knife

Sk,
You guys have been great for the Buck world and I appreciate that greatly!

Maybe a poll that is not related to a forum knife? Could help you with future products while helping people here get the versions they have dreamed of over the years.

Know you need to make money so maybe that is a win for all? I don't know with the forum rules and I'm not a businessman, so just an idea.

I can't see why it would be a problem for Kevin. Having an interest specific forum knife promotes the fellowship of the forum and thus the forum itself. Additionally, there was a Kershaw Skyline forum knife and an HTM Gunhammer forum knife.

However, it is Kevin's forum and for him to approve or not.

The idea of a Buck / BF effort appeals greatly to me.

I think a Buck Forum specific Blade Forums knife would be unfair to SK Blades, since Spark's policy to use that stamp requires among other things, that the knife be sold at cost.
Hard to keep the lights on and doors open (and eat ... pay rent ...) if you're just trading dollars.

As far as I know, all the knives Stephen has posted polls on here during the development stages (most recently for example, the Smoke Jumper and the Shield) have been/are successful sellers.
You could consider them to be a "Buck Forum" knife since we helped in the design, but you don't have to be a member of the forum to get one. (Which also no doubt helps to limit or eliminate the flipper issues.)

I voted for the Buck in the official 2019 poll.
I have no interest in the GEC offering, and will not buy one.
Besides, my Rough Rider RR 1287 "Half Hawk" has the same main blade, plus a pen blade, which makes it considerably more versatile. It also lacks the heavy pull that GEC is known for. ...

Bring on the polls for the fixed blade(s) :D

Doesn't have to be for non profit. Doesn't have to sayblade forums. I would prefer it didn't. Just a polled knife.

A few choices decided by the majority. A normal polled knife from SK. Would be great.

I think as stated before a fixed blade knife on the traditional site is a tough sell for alot of reasons. I did vote for the Buck fixed blade. I would have purchased it if it was selected. GEC knives are very nice but I do not want one like they are going down the path to select.

The next thing is Is in regard to the blade forum mark. I think leaving that alone but SK doing a knife (fixed blade) we can vote on would be great. Just which one with so many choices.

Hey all! We have been planning to do our usual annual Buck Forum inspired knife. Not sure on the model yet, but we're wanting to do a fixed this year.

As for making it an official Blade Forums knife, I'm not sure we'll go that route. First we would need to contact Spark and talk it over with him. He's a man of few words, so that could be an interesting conversation. Also I think there would be some backlash from Traditional. I don't know what it would be but most likely something. I'm also not sure the numbers here would support it for the frankly massive undertaking that a non profit project like this requires.

I suppose those are some of my thoughts.

What do you all think?

I don't really know what the active membership is over here on the Buck Forum. It seems like it would be doable to have a Buck Forum Knife, but I don't know if the numbers would be what you wanted, and whether or not the headache would be worthwhile for you.

Speaking purely for myself. I know that I really enjoy your SFOs, but I don't actually buy very many knives these days. I have more knives than I need, and less money than I want. My participation on the Buck Forum (limited as it is) is mostly a spill over from my participation on the Traditional Forum. As much as I like your SFOs and would drool over any BladeForums (non-profit priced) special SKBlades Buck knife, if it isn't a Trad Forum knife, I'm not likely to actually buy one. I really buy for sentimental reasons, so even if the knife was an amazing knife at an amazing price, I'd likely abstain.

I don't know if others feel that way, but if there are enough others with similar purchasing habits and not enough of a Buck Forum specific buying population then a Buck Forum knife might be a lot of work for not enough emotional reward on your part. All that said, I have always been under the impression that the Traditional Forum Knife is the Traditional Forum knife, not The Bladeforums Knife. It seems awfully unfair if other subforums aren't allowed to have their forum knives.

I'd really like to thank you for last years Forum Knife SK Blades! I missed the vote and would have gone for the Buck 192 in a heart beat.

I missed out on the 2018 forum knife 301 though I thought I was signed up for notifications I didn’t have my settings right to get notified. Then all through summer I was so tied up I didn’t have time to go online to check out the boards. That was pretty close to my dream knife and didn’t care if 2 or 3 blades just the elk and nickel handle with cpm154 blades was pretty sexy. I’m hoping I can get a chance for one very similar.

It's too bad that the Buck did not win . I bought last year's knife .
I won't buy any other brand . In fact when I decided to start collecting I gave away some other brands I had.
Just too many knives out there to collect more than one brand for me .
Not enough space or money for that.

I've always liked many brands and still do as I just like cutlery........but as time goes on I find I lean more and more towards buck. it's a brand that does classics still and well and at the same time plays in modern arena. something for about everyone.
