I think this BF knife reminds me of a Northfield version of the Case 11031 SH. I’m voting for a bare end.

What a great looking knife - maybe I was hasty in selecting end cap

Voted bare head.
I dropped my 78 in smooth bone on cement, got a nice ding in the nickel silver end cap bolster. No doubt it would've chipped the bone or worse had it been bareheaded.
Still going for barehead on this one though.

Bare end does look great, but with bone it often cracks out at the rear pin, so if we go that way I would suggest Ebony to prevent that as I notice that the ebony-scaled examples of the barehead knives don't seem to have the cracking issues around the pins like we see with the bone.

I love first-world "problems" such as this that we are all blessed to ponder!

Single blades usually look best with Barehead, and why saw off nice wood grain, antler, bone or micarta...;) and put metal on it:rolleyes:

This would be a deal ender for me if end cap were chosen.

I've changed my mind with every picture and drawing. I finally went with end cap because I think of this as a working knife and the small amount of extra protection provided by the end cap might be important.

Aren't all knives 'working-knives' ??;);)

All this talk of dropping knives and pin fractures, sounds like an irrefutable argument for MICARTA:cool::D:D

I generally favor bareheads "butt" in this instance I'm going with an end cap 1 for protection in case of bone covers and 2 because I intend to modify both bolsters to angled coffin profile as I did on a 15 once before. A couple not great pics are in this old fs post. Looked great I Only parted with it bc it was a tad small for me.

Wasn’t there a comment in a recent thread about how there is no such thing as logic when it comes to what should be the right pocket knife?

I like end caps, so whether true or not, when you drop a bare head knife, it always lands on the butt and cracks!

Stop trying to de-rail my logic! o_O:D

That's like my McDonald line theory - "no matter which line you switch to at McDonalds; it's the wrong one".
I would say physics might not agree with your logic; but "my logic" is a lot like "my truth" these days :D

Some of my favorite users are end capped, but voting bare for this one. Hoping for ebony covers and I think it will look good bare. I'm hopeful we end up with a nice shield. I think bare end with ebony covers will make the shield pop. I'm probably wrong and end up with some Frankenstein knife, but hey got to vote for some end result in mind. If we use sawcut covers I think it will look better end capped... but then we lose the shield because sawcut with a shield and end capped looks too busy for me... End ramble o_O

I like your line of thinking.

I've changed my vote on this one twice already, as I think the knife will look great regardless, and I have plenty with end caps that I love, and plenty without.

My decision here (and the other current polls) will only be based on aesthetics, as there is minimal difference function-wise between the options.

All of this dropping, and cracked handles talk has had its effect on me however. Please hit me up if you're interested in one of my patented Butt Bumpers.
