I thought you'd be interested in this question. I don't think it matters as much if the covers are dark wood, but I agree light bone looks better without verdigris.

Right you are! Dark woods can contrast nicely with brass, compliment each other. Stag and light bone (even light micarta is not immune from green plague) not so much...Unless you like green slime

This knife and the absurdly long, narrow, FFG main blade 2013 ($140) GEC give/gave me the I know I ain’t likin’ this year’s offering feeling. Not that it matters, but I did like the nickel silver liners. Not just walking but running away from this knife.

I remember very early in the polling being aware that the GEC blade was a sabre grind sheepsfoot.

Thanks. It probably would have won a poll anyway, because it's unique and GEC promised not to produce any more for a few years. Seems like there's a big crowd here that places a very high value on having something different. The other viable choice wasn't to my taste, so I had nothing to lose by lobbying and it let me be part of the process for a while. Thanks for letting me play.

looking at those great mockups makes me think all we will get for covers is an antique yellow, ebony, or OD green micarta option.

The trouble is you put something like covers to the polls and just watch the how the consensus option dominates any attempt to be interesting.

Personally I am thinking Jobillo wood, or antique calico sawcut bone. Just for that interest/variety factor.
