Surely I'm not the only one hoping for a tie. The chaos would make for great theater.

If it does end up in a tie, it’s seems logical that the win should go to the material (wood or bone) with the most total votes (jigged and smooth votes combined).

We should have a poll to close the poll!!!!o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

:D :D

Perhaps the next poll should be to evaluate whether we’re happy with the choices we’ve made so far, or if we should scrap it and start all with a redo of the initial maker/model vote. :D

Let me start by stating I have no dog in this fight. I steer away from things designed by committee as I generally find that they lack cohesive vision….case in point, 2017 Blade Forums TC….take a real beauty and dress her up in a gunny sack…swing and a miss IMHO (if that had been ivory micarta it would have been a jewel).

Now smooth wood can often be lovely but it can also be quite plain. Wood is pedestrian and safe. Unless the wood has an interesting grain or is burled, the covers function in a completely supporting role. Nothing wrong with that, but it is not something you can just stare at and marvel in its beauty.

Jigged bone on the other hand gives you covers that make folks jaws drop open and the saliva to start flowing (drool for you cretins out there). My second case in point, this beauty modified by @glennbad and owned by an Oregonian active in this current debate. Is there a more stunningly lovely lambsfoot out there?

I know it’s opinion. But I’d rather much have some good burlap micarta to that jigging...

Those voting on jigged bone thinking that it will be a rogers style jig pattern need to factor in the unreliability of both the jigging and the dye. It’s the reason that i am wary of going in that direction.

Sawcut bone is far more reliable. Those that say it is only for barlows might want to take a loooong look at the thousands of sawcut knives Schrade made. All good and true working knives!

Just in case people don’t want to treat themselves to something special, I jumped on the bay and secured me a tasty block of Jobillo. Happy me.

It appears that Ebony is quite popular in this contest.
Gaboon Ebony and African Blackwood are listed as endangered species by international treaty (CITES Schedule II) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

86 denotes the frame number, the following two digits denote the pattern, last two denote the year. So it is an 86. But it's not going to be an 861219, it'll be an 863119.
I get that. If you go up and read my other post, I said this knife, other than sharing a frame is NOTHING like the 86's that are coming down the pike.

Mike said we can use those.
