I will say, I am a little miffed that Bloodwood is preferred to cocobolo to be honest. No offense to anyone but I've only seen 1 bloodwood example that looks better than Ironwood or cocobolo so far.

That’s fine, but you’re proving my theory. It seems a lot of the folks that voted for smooth wood last round over jigged bone thought for sure a "black" version of the forum knife was a foregone conclusion. Careful what you wish for...![]()
C'mon ebony voters... Ebony is falling far behind.
You want a black knife, switch your vote to Blackwood.
Your "theory" is wrong as it relates to me. I voted for smooth wood with the hopes of a black handle. SO, please refrain from saying things like "you're" as it relates to whatever you're trying to prove. I'm not here for a scientific or psychological experiment, merely to enjoy my hobby and cast my vote as I see fit. That’s fine, but you’re proving my theory.
YUP! GEC uses a black wood almost every run!GO BLOODWOOD!!!

Ebony is common and boring. Now a days it's the Wallflower at a dance.
They use Blackwood almost every run (I wish) because it's the best choice.YUP! GEC uses a black wood almost every run!
The reason I'm voting for bloodwood is because GEC has rarely used the wood. I like the color of it, and as it ages with use if darkens. Everything I have read online about the wood state it darkens over time. I think it's a classy looking wood and will look great on this big ol pattern. I don't want to look at a big black handle with no character besides the shield. If you voting for one of the other lighter colored woods, change your vote to bloodwood to get the character you want.
I don't want brushed bolsters and shieldThey use Blackwood almost every run (I wish) because it's the best choice.
If you want character, go for Ironwood. Not much character with Bloodwood. IMO
I'm with you there, Taylor.I don't want brushed bolsters and shield
It's growing on me ED. Still like some others better, but I would be fine with the Bloodwood and Orleans shield.GO BLOODWOOD!!!

Why not from Che Chen to bloodwood?I've made the switch from Kingwood to Che Chen aka Black Poisonwood aka Caribbean Rosewood

Ebony and African Blackwood have always been considered to be two of the most special woods. Valuable not just for the desirable color but it is a durable and stable wood, which means less cracking and chipping when compared to other woods. It's been a favorite material by knife makers for thousands of years, for very good reason.

Great picture, thank you. I'm seeing multiple posts, mostly from the same couple people, that Bloodwood darkens over time. None of my Bloodwood has darkened. I have several Bloodwood GEC knives. I have one that's been a user for four years. It pretty much has the same appearance. Amazing wood - I love Bloodwood, but in my opinion there's better choices from what we have available for this specific knife. Anyway, since you posted this picture I'm wondering if your Bloodwood changed color over time?
