I had to vote Tidioute for the drawn swedge. I just think it would look sharper with the saber grind. But obviously it doesn't have a chance. That's okay, I suspect I won't be on the winning side of many of these.

Northfield for me, should be a great knife. Instead of a lined bolster I wonder if they could do a rat tail bolster, probably not as they will most likely make the bolsters for the entire run of 86's. Top knife is an old Challenge bare end jack with rat tail bolster.

I suspect a rat tail would win by a landslide, but youre probably right about GEC not wanted to do a special bolster.

Yes, a long pull is very nice on some blades but not so much for a saber ground blade because as you're trying to slice your Spam with the saber ground blade, the long pull will fill with Spam as it passes through the Spam. The same would go for a roll of salami or bologna.

I have to disagree with you here, ED. I think you'd be more likely to experience that problem with a full flat grind than a saber grind. Here's a visual aid.

Nope. Your visual aid does not show a sheepfoot blade.

Though I like both trims, I voted Northfield. If folks are wanting to try and keep the knife as unique as possible, the long pull in particular separates it from the nail nick on the 2017 sheepfoot. Also, the Northfield trim just adds a significant amount of class to the knife.

I like GEC's match strike long pulls and will likely vote for that should it be an available option. It looks awesome on just about any knife. Though I know there are folks who are determined to rain on just about any parade, the notion that a match strike pull would gum up with food and crud more than a standard long pull is kind of reaching. A long pull already gets gummed up and requires a quick cleaning with a rag or brush, a match strike pull isn't going to exacerbate that in any measurable way.
