2019 GEC 29 Humpback/Stockyard Whittler Thread

I haven't carried or used mine yet but I think it could very easily be my favorite GEC so far. Everything about this M&G is exceptional!

I had no desire for another 29, but that one made me take a look! That has a lot of good going on there...shield, bolsters, covers. And if you must write all over the blade, I have to say even the etch is pretty cool. ;)

Thank you, fellas! I am very pleased.

I am very much considering getting ones of those, the M&Gs are just terrific!

More glamour shots of mine in Stag.

I couldn't have said it better. I can handle an etch now and againand M&G seems to consistently offer a very tasteful etch. I would have preferred an awl but everything else this one offered won me over. Flesh blade ain't a bad consolation.

My bloodwood arrived today. Now I’ve only being in possession of it for a half hour now but I feel pretty confident in saying this has the best F&F of any of my GEC’s. Transitions, shield, centering, no rub, flush springs open and closed, very near flush at half. Walk and talk very nice although I’d prefer if the pulls were a touch stronger. Not that they are weak but I’m a fan of strong pulls. I’d say the main and sheepsfoot are a 4, the awl a 5.
I see that GEC calls this a keyhole shield but I’ve always called and seen them called cloud shields. This is very fitting as we just had to put down our old girl Lily. Her fur was so soft and floofy that we always said petting her was like petting a cloud. (She was a Golden Retriever/ Great Pyrenees mix, I called her a “Great Goldenees”). Now whenever I carry/use this knife I’ll think of her, she was a great dog with endless amounts of love to give. Rest easy old girl.

So sorry for the loss of Lily. I'm sure this will be a very special knife always for you. Would love to see a pic of Lily & the Bloodwood if I'm not asking too much.

I didn’t expect it till tomorrow so I’m very pleased! This #29 Stockyard Whittler Northfield UNXLD is a looker! This pattern was very intriguing to me and kept on going back to have a look so when this one popped up in the exchange I jumped on it. I generally stay with stainless as my work is to much exposure to corrosives but this one is a off duty for fun knife. Lol.

Thanks for the condolences folks. Lily was a great girl. Now I have a great knife to remember her by.

I’ve mentioned a few times on here that I’ve given up on posting pics on this forum. Every image host I’ve tried has not worked. Other ones are constantly pulling folks pics down. I’ve got no more memory space on my old iPad to try yet another.
I go by the same name on Spyderco forums and posted there, “talking about your traditional knives” or something like that in off topic.

Just a few finishing touches but this one is pretty much done.
The #29 Stockyard Harness Jack. I had to add an EO notch for the punch blade since this particular example came to me with an extremelly low kick.
Otherwise, the size and feel is exactly what I hoped it would be

Nice mod. Looks like a nice stiddy too, did you make it yourself?

Very nice Darren, if you could snap some closed pic's if possible as I'm curious to see the side with the access you added:cool::thumbsup:

Bolsters aren't finished yet but you get the idea. I can pinch open the main blade but the punch was hard to get open until I put the notch in. I probably went a tiny bit deeper with the notch than I needed to but this one is my user anyway.
I don't think my other 29's have that issue.
