2019 GEC 86 Oil Field Jack and Forum Knife Picture Thread

Perfect knife...GEC nailed this one. This is my first ever pic post on BF. Special thanks to @315 for the tutorial.

What a knife! Perfect action and pulls on both blades, walks and talks like Fred Astaire. The wrench shield is beautifully inlaid--it looks like it was melted right into place. Pretty darned good edge on the knife, too.

The springs on both blades are dead flush closed, at half stop, and open.

Maybe the nicest new slipjoint I've ever had my hands on other than some customs at the Blade show.

And yes, you can smell the oil in the scales.

From tube to pocket it goes!!!
 
Got mine. It’s lightly colored and almost silver. Action is perfect. Def one of the best gec’s I’ve gotten also. Was gonna kinda collect it but it’s gonna get used. A nice chunky robust knife. I even got a pin!!!

And yes, you can smell oil. It might be the oil they put on it but it sure smells good lol

now I can’t wait for the BF!

On a different note, how much do you guys think (or have experience with) the sucker rod wood changing colors with mineral oil? I use that on my carbon knives when I put them up, and I’m quite liberal with it. Will that cause the wood to discolor or darker where it might get on it and sit there awhile?

In my experience, will darken.

i read carefully through Exchange rules, and they state that Basic can post in WTB:

BASIC MEMBERS - Basic members are not allowed to post items for sale. You may post items for Trade in the Wanted To Trade Forums, or post requests for items to purchase in the Wanted To Buy Forums. ​

But that doesn't say anything about _reading_ existing threads!

I went ahead and posted my WTB; I can see it as the only thread in:
Forums->The Knife Exchange->Wanted to Buy Forums->Wanted to Buy: Knives

I'll be patient

I asked that question earlier and was told by one person that in their experience, it did darken. I am like you but I guess it’ll be what it is lol
