2019 GEC 86 Oil Field Jack and Forum Knife Picture Thread

impulse purchases eh? with you on that bud, well my second 86 sucker rod was such a decent deal i couldnt pass it up! i originally thought the 86s were a tad big, but that wrench shield. was worried i wasnt gonna be able to get one when I was abroad.
Jack, I can't believe I'm saying this but you may have influenced me somewhat;) One of mine as well as one of yours are at the same destination undergoing the same transformation;):)

Game? It is a game. I don't work that way. Bloodwood is the only material that appealed to me at this time. I do not do collector knives reserves. I will not go to this much trouble to spend my money for a knife I don't even need.

You see.... I simply don't care enough to go through reserves or any such pre-order process. No big thing. Saved myself over $100.

The only knife I sign up ahead of time and without actually seeing a picture of a finished knife is the forum knife.

No, no game. All you had to do was sign up for email alerts from Gunstock Jacks. So simple, no reserve. Like I said, there was no mad rush, they were in stock for quite a time considering the numbers made.

If you just didn't want one bad enough then fine, but then I don't understand why you're complaining. It's on you.

That's funny. I read here that the Gunstock Jack supply of their SFO sold out in about an hour..... that's really a long time. ;) I'm not complaining because I simply don't care enough to complain. My points were personal observations and you can take that or leave it. I don't care one way or the other.

That IS a long time for a run of 100, are you kidding? Especially after an email notification.

You did complain which was why I addressed your post to begin with, I was trying to help by telling you about the email alerts. If you didn't want one anyway (which is what it sounds like), fine.

If you want something that stays in stock until you stumble across it then you'd be better sticking to Case knives.

Finally got around to a pic since this is a "picture" thread. I had a Case Copperhead (6249) and a F&F Bull Nose #71 handy so I took some comparison pics.

I thought it would be 10 minutes max

If I complained, show me a quote. I think you may define complaining A LOT differently than I do. As far as Case goes.... I chuckle at your statement because the last new Case I bought was a couple years ago, a stag peanut. I have little interest in new Case knives and the Peanut was an exception and an impulse buy at a store.

I do want something that stays in stock "until I stumble across it". I am not kidding at all about 100 knives..... how many do you think Barry normally sells in a week?

Been thinking about running over to KSF (in person) and looking at their 86. :D They are like 10 minutes from my house.

its certainly a hefty knife and a beefy one, that is why i snagged one extra to have modded when i saw the opportunity. And the wrench shield is dope!

That Autumn Gold 86 is typical of GEC's that I buy that I might use. The really odd stuff never gets used. I definitely prefer a clip point for general use. I wanted the #14 Boys knife with a clip when they were released but never found one at that time; later found one at a GEC dealer at a show.
