2019 GEC Pemberton Thread

The red ones look just like Red River acrylic to me. I'm not sure why they have to have multiple names for the same acrylic, á la beer barrel/tiger eye.

Doesn't look similar to me, other than having red / black in it. The #06 looks like a perylic. The worst thing they could do is give two similar looking colors the same name; then I would get a lot of returns because "Red River doesn't look like it once did".

Yeah I can understand your point, as a dealer. They do look slightly different, side by side.

Btw, you're doing a great job doing what you do Mr. Mike!

If I'm not able to catch a Templar Pemberton, I'll wait to pick one up later on the secondary market. I'll save some money if I'm patient. Unlike other GEC knives, these Templar knives tend to depreciate. I was able to pick up both the #48 and the #12, both new in tube, for under $40.00 each. But if I catch one at a dealer, I'll probably jump on it.

I won’t post pictures of my muslin micarta because it looks like all the others, but I am impressed! The satin finish on the bolsters will hide scratches and the finish and snap are perfect:thumbsup:

It is a great little knife!
And I can tell you one thing for sure about the satin bolster knives...they are WAY easier to photograph than the polished! :)

The Pemberton is one of my favorite patterns, is is really good to see these runs!

They could just keep rotating the Pemberton in different combinations of blade(s), acrylics, woods, and jigged bones and I'd probably buy another one every month! Single blade, twin blade, tiger eye, tortoise, dead skunk, seaglass, bloodwood, osage orange, green, yellow, red... I'd buy 'em all, I tell ya!! :D

That red templar looks to be Kirinite, which I don't believe the red river acrylics were.

I got a single blade in smooth bone today. It is a pretty little knife, the only issue I found is the blade tip is slightly exposed when the knife is closed. Not so much it is causing a problem but when I run my finger across I can feel the blade tip catch my finger. This was an issue I also noticed with the 15 single spears I got last year.
Has anyone else noticed this on their knife?

It happens from time to time. I had a Northfield #13 with the same problem. Because it was such a beautiful knife, I sent it to GEC because I was afraid to mess it up when filing down the kick a little bit...but that is the fix. You can do it or GEC will do it for you

By far, I’m no expert, but it’s not uncommon. Depending on the specific way in which it sits, the solution is to carefully file the part of the knife, on the tang called the kick. I would attempt this only if I was giving you better directions then I am. It doesn’t appear to be a difficult issue to resolve.

I Know about the filing of the kick trick, however in doing so the spring may no longer be flush when closed. Not a big deal on a user knife but not something you should have to do to a new knife.

My two blade, smooth bolster, white bone showed up today. Super walk and talk on both blade. Cool little knife! Way better walk and talk then on my stag. Fit and finish is top notch.

My 2-blade in white bone showed up today as well. I opted to keep the Northfield trim in its entirety and I am glad I did, it is one dandy little knife. If the weather improves, I hope to take it out for some pictures tomorrow.
