2019 John White MS Memorial BEST BOWIE Thread - Vote NOW for Finalists!

Steevee aka Lucas and a few of his Bowie’s....#’s 1 and 2 from the top, the others don’t quite make the blade-length requirements.

Nominations will close later this evening, eastern time - so if you know of anyone who has stuff to contribute but hasn't yet done so, shake their tree, rattle their cage etc. :D

Yikes it's been hard to post - software has been terribly glitchy - if anyone has tried and failed and given up, email me your pics at pinnocr@hotmail.com and I will try to post them for you.

Mike Quesenberry had a fantastic Dogbone Bowie at the AKI...but I can't find a picture of it...

Maybe Coop has a shot....

I tried Googling it - wow, Mike has made a lot of awesome dogbones - but I don't know which one is current.

Okay guys, especially with all the software glitches, nominations will close first thing in the morning. We'll vote for finalists all day tomorrow, then start the vote for the overall winner with an open poll in separate thread that will start on the 31st and close early on New Year's day to declare the winner!

Start giving some thoughts to your choices for finalists, but don't start voting until tomorrow when I sound the horn.

I shot his Dagger, not the Bowie. Francesco Pachi was there shooting, but the above link is not his photo.

I checked with Mike - No image I can post, sadly

had amazing "Deadpool Damascus" blade and the usual exquisite fit/finish/flow...

Certainly some beauties posted already though:thumbsup:

It so hard to tell which of Caleb Royers photos are from past years and which are new, as they all mixed together on his IG and FB without any date as to when they were made or originally shared. I often wish all the pro shots had a small date added on them somewhere.

Thanks for the additional entries, folks! We are now closed to further entries - let the selection of finalists begin!

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU for all the nominations. And a special thanks to those makers who posted up their work. . You should all be proud of your creations. Without you, we'd have nothing to talk about here.

The fun continues with what usually proves to be the hardest and most interesting part - narrowing it down to five finalists. The procedure will be the same as before:

1) Each member may submit up to 7 suggested finalists. You don't have to submit as many as 7, but don't submit any more than 7. I think we can all agree that there is more than one knife on these pages that deserved a nod? Please take your time to carefully review all the knives.

2) Please include the post number where your selected knife can be found, and the number of the knife within that post if more than one knife is presented therein - this will help clear up any uncertainty in the case where there are multiple knives by a given maker among the initial entries. For example - a say post number 30 has 4 knives. You want the third. Put "Post 30, #3". AND DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE MAKER!

3) Your order or selection doesn't matter - one vote per knife up to seven, each vote counts.

4) Please try to include a few words about what appeals to you about any given selection. THIS is what makes the selection process most interesting.

5) When all votes are in, we add up the numbers (each time a knife is put forward by someone as a finalist, that effectively counts as one vote for that knife) and the top 5 will be voted on by polll in a new thread.

PS - If anything is unclear, please ask early.

I'll cast a few votes to get things rolling.

Post 1, #1 - Russ Andrews Damascus and Stag - I'm a huge fan of premium stag combined with damascus is a big bowie and a huge fan of Russ' exceptional body of work over decades. I wish this beauty were mine.

Post 2, # 1 - Kevin Klein - Tremendous talent and artistry on display.

Post 7, #2 - Matt Roberts Sheephorn Bowie - I had a hard time picking a fave but have to give the nod to this beastie - terrific lines!

Post 22, #1 - Brion Tomberlin - Old-timey awesomeness and one of my all-time faves from Brion.

Post 36, #3 - Kyle Royer Mosaic - It's good to be king - because you get to add spectacular pieces like this to your collection without a second thought.

Post 44, #2 - Sam Lurquin Rhino. This knife made me laugh out loud first time I saw it - out of sheer delight. Over the top badassness.

Post 52, #1 - Jackson Rumble Keyhole - I love the sheer nerve of presenting such a challenging piece for a JS submission. This knife is so clean, it hurts.

Note that for the past FIFTEEN years all my images have the maker's name, then the captured date in the filename. Review my folder and my website. Now you know.

Thank you Roger! What an opportunity. Now to spend 30 mins studying selections. :)
