What is the logic behind buying the forum knife if there is nothing about it of any interest at all? The only one who benefits from this at all would be GEC (in this case)... not the forum, not the dealer. Why not apply this hundred bucks to another knife that does appeal to you?
I cannot use logic because I have an addiction and cannot use common every day reasoning when it comes to buying knives.

I gotta say the sabre would not have been my first pick.

But every knife needs to have a personality and aesthetic. I don’t favour a knife that lacks that.

Which is why I am more in favour of an #86 that has the nautical/sailing dynamic. Those pocket knives, used by sailors who climb rigging and cut rope, fit into a user category more than just about anything else does.

Which is why I don’t get the posts that claim this is not a user knife  not all pocket knives are meant for slicing up food.

As to the cost of the knife, I wouldn't mind a five dollar add-on for Spark to use for Blade Forums administrative cost. So, cost of knife + shipping + $5.00 for Blade Forums. For a 400-knife order, that would be 2-grand for Spark.

Lastly, if we're to have a single blade knife, let's have one with a fully functional blade such as a spear blade with a flat grind with swedge rather than a semi-functional blade such as a sheepfoot blade with a saber grind.
Yeah, an administrative fee is more than appropriate on something like this.
Otherwise it's a PITA.

This is exactly how I feel. If I had one knife, that one knife would probably be a full flat grind. But the saber grind gives this 86 a certain something different.

And saying a saber grind can’t cut anything is not an opinion, it’s just incorrect.

What are you trying to say Joe? I mean come on ,be honest, you can tell me..:D
Something around the size of oooh say a Saturn V rocket I could probably squeeze something on to ....if I write really reeally small.

I feel proud that you suggested such an honour.
Cheers.
Check out the tubes GEC uses for their fixed blades, just short of a 55 gallon drum.
