2020 GEC #19 Little Rattler Thread

It is nice to see GEC get some different Micarta in the mix - Red Coral Canvas. Nice to see them being even more vague than usual with regards to the bone options  - cool to see a smooth variant though.
My thoughts exactly :)

I decided to roll the dice - I went ahead and threw my name in the hat for the entire run. The mystery ones are likely wood or maybe even some acrylic (wood always looks nice - acrylic, not so much).

The only one I hesitated on was the micarta. I usually don't like micarta but I've seen some past runs that had interesting micarta outside of the standard OD, red, black, natural - so I figured it wouldn't hurt to check out the new stuff - maybe they will put a cool shield on it.

In hindsight, I feel kind of bad about declaring my success - I honestly thought there was a good bit of time to secure one or more and I also didn't think these were going to be that particularly popular.

I also feel a bit bad for Mike - his Early Reserve system seems to have become the weathervane when it comes to determining demand and popularity. I recall the single blade Pembertons (wharnie blade) being available with dealers after the fact so either this is yet another short run or the demand for anything GEC has reached a particularly frenzied point.

All that said, I didn't feel rushed in securing these 19s...

A little knife with a robust wharnecliffe blade can make for a rather useful tool though.

I thought since so many were saying they were going to pass I might have a chance, Ha! Ha! I‘m a teacher and by the time I checked my phone when school was out it was all over!

What shields are you guys hoping to see? I think a square bar shield on that smooth bone would look real nice.

I like your thinking - square bar shield would look stellar.

I liked the mystery option, like a box o' cracker jacks :)
Exactly. I reserved the two mystery options thinking to myself " This ought to be interesting."
My luck it will end up being upchuck acrylic and/or Templar acrylic/trim.

It makes you wonder how fast the reserve would fill up if it just said "Tidioute" and "Northfield" with ?? for all options including model #.

I'm sitting out on these. I'm not a big fan of knives in this size range and I'm also not big on the wharncliff blade, unless it on a stockman or whittling knife.

I gotta fever!!! And the only cure is more lambsfoot!!

Here hoping I dont have to wait too long for another GEC lambsfoot knife as I missed out on Charlie's 93.

I wouldn't be surprised to see these easy to grab on dealer websites. It seems the smaller knives or 23/97 sized knives tend to be easier to score on regular drops. I think the early reserves went quick because this was the first chance to secure one. Also Mike has a nice early reserve system in place that im guessing more and more people are beginning to make use of. So just be diligent and I'm sure you'll be able to snag one when they drop.
