2020 GEC #23 Trapper Thread

7 and 7.5 pulls ! I will be using my feet and a CASE XX blade pick to open this #23 bear trap. I just paid my invoice on the Brazilian Cherry-wood #23 Pioneer Trapper. I have been wanting a #23 for two years. I pussy footed on two Shrade #23 Trappers , last year. I got #23LLs , SFO #23s , and Club knives on pre-order. I am so excited.

Do the #23 Pioneer Trappers come with a half stop ? I sure hope so , I am going to have to be real careful with these knives.

How would you say the weight and thickness compares between these two?

I just weighted my #23 and it was 6.0 ounces. I don't own a #97 to weigh the differences

For those who were not able to pre-order, the Jigged Brazilian Cherry trappers are available at some retailers. I just received an in-stock e-mail from DLT. And I couldn't resist and placed an order.

Thanks Troutzil!!
Just went fishin in the same pond!
That makes two 23's on the way, one micarta, the other wood.

My first 23 and I have to say it is an impressive knife. Big, beautiful and a bear trap! Perhaps not an everyday EDC but it sure is a handful of fun. Build quality appears outstanding.

Here is a pic next to one of my favorite large knives, the Case Tony Bose designed Panama Trapper. 23 is thicker, stouter. Pull on the Panama is 5-6 compared to the 23’s 8ish
