2020 GEC #23 Trapper Thread

And I did, as well... so when the mesquite arrives, I'll be done with the 23's... I like them better than I thought I would. Not exactly an EDC, but a well made "niche" kind of knife.
You building a set of these like the 62s? A photo will be required when your done.

Got my beaver tail in the mail today (thanks Kiro), as I’ve mentioned before I appreciate the thought that went into putting this knife together...my pioneer less so. We all collect in different ways for different reasons, I like to carry mine around and these are way outside my usual EDC. Anyone else carrying these around in a back pocket or are they all squirreled away in their tubes, to be pulled out and oiled on a scheduled basis?
I do carry mine on a fairly regular basis and it is always in a front pocket and it is normally part of a Pair .

I've been carrying a woodland micarta liner lock in my front pocket. Surprisingly I don't really notice the extra weight of the knife as much as I expected I would.

Yeah, they carry nice for their size. Front right pocket for me, almost daily since I got it.

I carried my Northfield in my backpocket for a week after I got it and was surprised how easily it carried (it stayed upright most of the time). I was lucky to snag a pouch sheath that fits just right and it's been on my belt everyday since. This trapper is turning into a fine user.

No... one "obsession" is enough for me...:D
I planned to only get two of them... the micarta, and Mike's SFO in mesquite... but when I saw the final iteration of the "jigged Brazilian cherry wood" I decided I would like to have one of those, as well.... in spite of the fact that I really don't care for the shield... so, now I'm stopped at 3.... if the mesquite ever happens...

I really have zero interest in the two blade models.. and this size is really larger than anything I would likely carry on a daily basis, so three is likely two too many...

Yeah I got a little carried away with the 62s, I ended up with seven but love every one of them. I’ve managed to limit the 23s to two but that will change once my brown bone liner lock comes in at CK.:)

This has been an interesting run. For now, it looks like many will have an opportunity to get into one of these for a reasonable price. While much of the focus has been on the variable pull, one should not overlook the great craftsmanship at a bargain price. This kind of quality at basically a C-note is not that common...

We just act that way... takes one to know one. :p
actually, I mis-spoke.... I should have said "youngsters", not children.... my birthday happened 12 days ago, and I hit the magical SS milestone of 66.... I suppose I should change my handle to "Phillips66" or something.... (my last name being Phillips, and all .... )

I know this isn't part of the 23 thread, but this is the thread that convinced me to get a 97, so I'm asking for opinions.... I can't decide between the Beaver Tail Brazilian Cherry or the Autumn Gold Jigged Bone. Which would you choose and why?

I own neither, allow me to now pontificate on why one is better than the other. I would go with the gold jigged bone. I really like the beaver tail etch and badge but the autumn gold looks classy and timeless.

It’s great to see a Taylor Eye Witness knife on here . I have two Barlows and I’ve just picked up the 23 bullet.might have to rock that combo too.
Thank you very much my friend . I carry an Eye Witness of one type or another on a fairly regular basis . I also have 2 of their Barlows . I hardly ever carry them , but I like them .

But this is a thread about the Northfield 23s and I am anxiously waiting on the next Bullet to drop and then the Mesquite . I have both reserved .
