2020 GEC #62 Easy Pocket Congress and Pocket Carver Thread

I have no reservations about moving on.
Should I make one? :D:p

Edit: also isn’t it interesting I consider the same pattern and blade combination with different covers/trim to be the same knife (ex, the 62 pocket carver described above), but someone else calls them two different knives. A third person yet might say it’s impossible by definition to buy two of the same anything, so they are all different knives even if you get the same version twice.
I see them as two different knives... much like the 82 Dixie Stockman, and the 82 Possum Skinner. Same frame, but different knives.
I know others see them all as "62's".. but to me, they are different knives.
I see this in other patterns, as well. The older 92's, like the single blade Talon, vs the two blade Eureka Jack.

Either way, I can't wait to see the 62 Pocket carvers.. especially since I just began my "whittling" career.. :D
I thought the Case swayback would be almost perfect for whittling, but I'm finding the blade is a bit long. The pocket carver should be just about right....

Yes, I understand that I don't have to buy them, but I will...I committed. By contacting you to cancel the pre-order, I was trying to keep this from happening:

"If this commitment is not followed thru on, we will place your email on a list that may no longer commit at this tier."

Sadly, once a reservation is closed, there is no way to access it - even from the admin side. And, the system will run an automatic audit that will restrict access in most cases. But, things happen; and as long as it does not become common we can manually remove the restriction after the reservations are completed.

Great, thanks for the reply Mike!

Oh, good grief.... you posted a complaint, and others responded to it, and now everyone that disagrees with your "take" on it are not rational, objective, or honest? Not a good way to have a discussion, my friend. Like Forrest Gump said... "that's all I got to say about that".... now back to our normal programming.
Apologies. I tend to get bent out of shape (to what many might call an inordinate degree) when I see a failure to deliver a product that isn’t what it’s advertised as being. My intent was to thank the couple people who feel the same way I do for speaking up. Unfortunately, my poor choice of wording left the barn door wide open for very different meanings being attached to my words. Although my traditional knife learning curve is nowhere near leveling out, I still can and will put more effort and care into wording my future posts.

They haven't come in yet, there's a chance we will get them today but more likely early next week. After that we just gotta process them and they will be ready. Make sure you are signed up for our GEC product alerts to be notified.

Blue?? camel bone DLT 62. Wife likes it but I am extremely disappointed. The grey squares are a Color Checker, a certified reference to ensure accurate color. To add insult to injury, in my comments to DLT on the order I requested dark blue, looks I got the lightest one they had

IMO this should never have made it out the door at GEC without being marked a 2nd. Send it back? Trade it? Nothing wrong except the color and that's subjective but certainly not what I expected.

I never figured dealers payed much attention to requests.
I doubt they search their entire inventory of a particular knife to find just the right one.
I once sent an email to a retailer asking if he could pick me out a knife with a centered blade and minimal gaps.
His response was basically, They're all the same and you get what you get.

Just to clarify, we read all order comments/notes and do our best to accommodate requests, in some cases like these SFOs the available pool of knives to check through is fairly small, as any knives with a request are going to be shipping shortly after knives without a request as they require someone (generally me) to check over the individual knife and order before it can go to the shipping dept. This is compounded by the very wide variance in color with natural materials, with dyed camel bone being especially notorious for this. That being said, @Chief please check your email.

No worries, my friend. We all get a little passionate about things at times... and sometimes emojis just don't quite convey what we intended to say. Happens to me quite often.. I tend to be a little opinionated about many things. My wife would say "ALL things"....:D

I can honestly say that the knives that I’ve ordered from DLT so far have been generally what I requested. Now to clarify my expectations are based on the fact I consider this a request or note to seller, crossing fingers and hoping for the best. I’ve dealt with other vendors that don’t even bother checking, and worst have horrible customer service. I’m content with the check mark on the invoice for the request that I get from them. I understand that they can only check what they have on hand and there are limitations but so far I’ve had no issues. But I still consider it luck of the draw. There are other factors that I look forward to more like speed of shipping and how well packaged the knife is and in that regard as well, i have only positive things to say about DLT.

Discuss the knives, please. If you've got a beef about orders or ordering, please post in feedback. Thanks.

Jiki Jiki how long ago did you say three weeks? I’m dying for them to get through they stag so I can see the whittlers.

Feb 3rd. Still on track. I have a queen new old stock sowbelly sitting in my mailbox right now to hold me over.
Ah yes... the “scratch the itch” knife. Proven effective at ebbing “tracking-parcelitis”.

edit: I have a queen #48 in my pocket right now, in fact, because I love two spring whittlers, though this particular one was very flawed for how much was spent on it. A gift from my wife, so don’t tell her. (#141118 GEC in my watch pocket though!)
