Here’s an interesting detail for folks looking forward to the carver...
the main blade is almost exactly the same length as the 06 Pemberton wharnecliffe. I guess we know how Mr. Howard made room for that tiny whittler configuration!

Yes, I was expecting it to be shorter. Preferring it to be shorter. 1.5 inch blade is where I want to be.

Some of those #62 stag specimens really are the best I’ve seen out of GEC. I look and pine but never get the perfect config that would make me snag a stag. It’d be the only one I’ve ever bought so it’s gotta be just what I’m looking for.

I've only bought one GEC in stag. A #12 that I bought in person. There is no substitute for in person selection. Unfortunately that isn't going to be regular option for most of us. The stag on these 62's does look good.

Cruel trick... delivery for the #62 carver was posted as Thursday... refreshing the page I find out it’s been shifted to Friday. It’s like they’re punishing me for paying too much attention to their progress.

"a watched pot never boils..."

:D that's actually happened to me a couple of times. But, it's sorta balanced out, because a few times, I've received them a day earlier than predicted.

The way things work out, I might actually have three arriving tomorrow. We'll see.... I hope the weather is bad, so my wife won't go to the mailbox.

I just snapped up a #62 Banana last night, and am really looking forward to it. I went crazy on the #86s, as I have a deep love for that pattern, and wasn't looking to start on any other models, but there was just something about that lush yellow bone with the banana shield that I had to have! I'll have to get pictures up when it arrives. One thing I do like is that it's a tad on the larger side, so that will be a plus.

The Late, Late Show due to being across the Atlantic ;) Started off with the Red Bone which arrived rapidly no fuss, its companions the DI and Camelbone got snarled up in Customs & delivery. Can't make out which I like most :) the two latest have slightly stronger pull & louder snap than the Red Jigged (no idler by the way) I asked for a light colour DI and not disappointed by the wood at all, v.hard to photograph half decently though. astounding quality of shield inlay on these patterns. Oakleaf is flush with no gaps around the shield, The Camelbone is extraordinary material, feels like polished stone  thus I think this one will be the user and the other two become parade tarts:D

Who wants some shoe sized 23??:D 73 is well large enough;)

I originally ordered the Unicorn Ivory and expected it to be my only version of this pattern. Once I started seeing the Red Jigged Bone show up however, I couldn't resist getting it as well. It's quickly become one of my favorites to carry even though I'm not a huge fan of jigged bone. I've thought about getting a Goldenrod Camel Bone and/or the Natural Micarta but not sure they can top this one for my tastes ...

Right now the 62 Redbone is my daily carry... I have the blades laser sharp.... It is a very versatile knife that does my light to medium duty cutting chores...

all of mine are potentially "users". I have no plans to keep any as safe queens. My "satin-ized" unicorn is my go-to knife from this group. I just love the way it looks, un-glossed. Looks like.... ivory? I've carried the DI, and the maroon micarta a few times, and the blue camel a couple of times. For some reason, I've not carried the red bone. I love the looks of it, but just somehow haven't slipped it into the pocket yet. The stag is coming.
