2020 GEC #74 Mustang Thread

Stag look so good on the 74, I haven't purchased a stag folder in a long time for many negative reasons, I decided today to try and get one. I had the stag I wanted and it was gone at check out in seconds, I couldn't believe it but fortunately I was able to get another chance. I have no idea what it looks like, I sure hope it's close to my stag taste and not to fat, I'll post pics when it comes in.

Allow me to introduce to you the newest members of my Mustang String;
Ms. Irene Ironwood and Mr. Sebastian Stag. ;) Two first rate Northfield 74s from GEC. :cool:

They have zero flaws, beautiful covers and excellent fit. Their pull is a bit lighter than expected, about a four. The lighter pull could become one of their better attributes as my hands age. :eek: One other thing, I think GEC could do better when breaking their liner's edges, at least on the blade-well entrance. The aforementioned comments are not nearly troublesome enough to be considered complaints but simply observations. Overall I am extremely pleased and pleasantly surprised to have been able to received both the Mustangs I had wanted the very most. :thumbsup::thumbsup: One of the two is almost certain to become an all-round favorite within the next few years. :)
Verrrrry nice my friend . I like the Solid Stag Features all the way to the Bolster . Now that you have our attention , do they have a Pile Side ????

Two Beauties...congrats! :thumbsup::cool: Hoping my stag is anywhere near as nice. The pulls on my Ironwood and Plum are noticeably easier than both of my Stallions from the 2017 run. I find that I am able to pinch either one open. Might not be the case with the stag though, with it's polished blade. Hoping to find out soon. :D

Congratulations! Very nice examples James! :thumbsup: I found my Ironwood to be around a five and my Stag to be a solid six. Definitely a noticeable difference. I prefer the six, but the five is also very smooth and crisp at all three positions. :)
Thanks Ron. Mine are the opposite with the Ironwood's pull a bit more stout than the stag's. Both have smooth action with good snap at half stop, full open and closed... very satisfying.

Thank you Harry, I like the stag's features to run end to end also. :thumbsup::thumbsup: Still looking for the Ironwood's pile side ;) but this stag's pile side pic is for you my friend.

I'll be sure to get some better pics soon, including the Ironwood's pile side. BTW it is a great match. :)

Thanks. To say that I'm well pleased with mine could actually be an understatement but it's a might early to say "delighted"... yet. So I'll leave it at very pleased for now. :) Hope you get the stag that you'll be thrilled with. -James

Well I got stupid lucky on a dlt drop and scored these two. After almost a week of being lost in transit they were finally delivered.

The stags shown here are incredible!

Upon close inspection both have the blade length scratches/bolster scuff that seem to be common to most, and a couple pins are either proud or sunk too; however neither of those are issues of any concern. The plum bolsters are a bit crimped at the slabs.

Regardless, I'm happy as heck!

Just delivered, both are very nice. Good solid pulls, centered blade, minor gaps on the liners.

One for me and one for my buddy. I put some mineral oil on the wood to show the grain better. GEC should have polished these out IMO.

It's going to be hard to choose. :D
