2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

they were instantly gone at bhq and just now in under a minute at traditional knives. sold for $110 there though; $30 markup put me off and i chose not to bite. guess i'll have to luck into one some day, or just... decide to buy a similar knife from a different company. either way, i appreciate your replies, and wish you all well in snagging one if you haven't yet

i hear you - i think by absurd they may have meant GEC frenzy in general, including the insane resale market and new retail items with 30-40% markup over the going rate. to avoid speaking for them though, i'll own those opinions myself. your point about value is well taken and you're surely right, but honestly, that's almost a knock against it for me. what we're talking about is speculative exchange value based on scarcity, hype, and flipping, among other things, which has a real tenuous relationship to the actual use value of the knife, & even the wholesale pricing of the knives by the manufacturer. it's just a lil carbon lockback after all!

i don't like- well this is a traditionals forum, so let's say i don't cotton to flipping, to put it gently [selling used or unwanted/trading in general is categorically different and obviously a good thing] and don't myself tend to buy things with an eye towards selling them later. but that's all just where i'm coming from, and doesn't keep me from being happy you and other folks have been able to nab your own, or grateful for your all's helping a pleb like me. the 83s are great, i *really* love that opinel blade shape and a wood handle and know my brother would too. just gonna have to try my luck another time another way
