I was interpreting it as this gap which looks like the lock spring is not wide enough where the curved cutout for lock is located.

I was wondering about that too black mamba, thanks. This will be my first GEC lock back so I’m really interested to see how they compare to a Case, although, the only Case I have are the tribal and mini copperlock. Maybe a silly question, but it won’t be my first or likely my last,The cutout on the frame has to be low enough to depress the lock bar enough to release. Maybe Eric (ea42) could comment on this, but they probably make sure there is enough room before they're done with the knife, and deepen the notch if it needs it. The depth of the lock bar is always the same, but the engagement of the lock is not, therefore some fitting is needed.
The latch needs broken in..... When the tab on the lockbar drops into the notch on the blade tang there is minimal clearance...... The contact areas need burnished through use to make the operation more fluid..... If you want to accelerate the process you can put valve grinding compound in the notch area when you are cycling the lockbar...... Just be sure to flush the compound out when you are satisfied that the action is to your liking.......... Just be careful you don't over do the break in to the point that you have a loose knife....This is the first of these I’ve had, shocked by the size but I love it. A question for others here, when disengaging the lock, my knife seems to stick pretty hard then *pop* loose at which point I can close it. Do others have the same either with this version or earlier?
Thanks Hemi, I’ll just use it and it’ll get there in time. The latch needs broken in..... When the tab on the lockbar drops into the notch on the blade tang there is minimal clearance...... I’ll second the need to break it in through use. Mine was much like how you described, but carrying and using it all week it is much smoother now. Thanks Hemi, I’ll just use it and it’ll get there in time.
No need for that nonsense here, just a question about a mechanism new to meOooooohhhh, not perfect out of the box.![]()
Actually there’s a definite design flaw, not that it requires broken in ; that’s normal. The gap at the cutout for the back spring is something that should have been avoided. That‘s not nonsense. No, not perfect out of the box.No need for that nonsense here, just a question about a mechanism new to me
Really hope we get our invoices soon, or I need to take some time off from the internet because these Bocote’s areIts been nice getting to see these knives, it helps build the anticipation.
