2021 GEC 83 Tascosa Lock Back

I wanted more wood covers in my GEC collection. No regrets with this one and passing on the bone. Although those do look really nice.
Getting a nice patina there Jon. I actually thought I might see about trading my Bocote for a bone, but the more I mess around with it the more I realize how unique it looks. It’s definitely growing on me! 😉👍

Thanks. I strongly prefer a patina. It’s too stressful trying to keep a carbon blade looking pretty.
I handled a couple bone 83’s and I think they are “nicer”, but I don’t think you would be disappointed with which ever one you end up with.

I was thinking a satin finish on the bolster and shield for the Bocote would look good. Might be a cool mod to try sometime.

Decided to do some newer photos

Very impressive sir! Thank you for sharing, these are awesome. I have a stag 83 on the way and it will be my first time having stag in the collection. Hoping for a great example such as the ones you’ve shared. I really enjoy lockbacks, I need to get me some 72’s next.

I also like thin and even stag... doesn't have to be too textured as long as it's even and matching.

I did not win stag lottery but I subscribe to all stag is good philosophy. Happy to have one.

verrrrry fat stag on mine

That is some rather fat Stag... I bet it feels good in the hand though.

I don't mind thickness in Stag, it usually makes it more comfortable in the hand - though it may not carry well in the pocket.

I don't have great lighting at the moment but I did want to show off my 83s. I am pretty sure I am going to whiff on the Stag - which is a shame since that is the one I was really hoping to land. That said, I am very pleased with the other two.

The Dark Brewed jigged is an exceptional knife - the marriage of the richly colored bone and fancy bolsters/shield makes for an incredibly classy blade.
