2022 #77 Yankee Barlow thread

Going to be maybe the lone dissenter here, but I like the new 77's without the coloring of the NF logo. I was lucky enough to get one from this run and with the NF logo not being highlighted, this allows the handle slab to receive all the glory.

Sure, the knives look great with the NF or TC logo being highlighted, but there is a elegance to the understated bolster not being highlighted and letting the handle material do all the talking in this run : ) Especially with this high grade caliber of stag and once in a lifetime mount of olive wood.

You’re not alone. I like em, too.

If someone has the knife information from CK on the Mount of Olive and Stag 77 please post it - thank you.

I don’t think knifeswapper knifeswapper does those anymore. I haven’t seen them since GEC started selling out before he even receives them. It’s too bad because his were some of the best descriptions with “pull strength” and “factory effort” can’t blame him though for not coming up with a sales description for something that sells out instantly.

Leslie Tomville Leslie Tomville Greg gave me the opportunity to get get this Sawcut version from him. Thank you again Greg. It arrived yesterday. Taking the "saw mark" expectations out of the equation and judging the knife on it's own merits it's really quite nice.

F&F is spot on, action is smooth and snappy, and it is beautiful. Once it spends some time in the pocket it will undoubtedly get even better IMO.

Yes, this is the info I am looking for, in addition to all the measurements and weight. CK info is concise, accurate and has a nice layout.

Congrats btb01 btb01 that mount of olive wood has some great character and that cocobolo is top notch, awesome trio. 6 children is to many damn kids... but you can never have enough 77 barlows 😂

Thanks, I was really pleased with the character of both the olive wood (which was expected) and the cocobolo (which came as a pleasant surprise). Next time they run ‘em I’ll have to try and get one that isn’t some shade of brown. 😁

Normally not a wood lover but the coco on my 77 is exceptionally nice. Hope it's stabilized. Love the etch, long pull, swedge, single blade thinness, great fit and finish. Sawcut has some definition but not readily visible at this angle / light, could use more. As far as pull goes my sawcut has more snap than my coco but to be fair neither one of them has been flushed / worked. Prefer clip over spear but that's just personal preference.

Mine showed up today :

Blade is Centered well as expected . The Sawcut on the Sawcut Bone is not what I prefer , but what I expected . It will not provide much Grip Capability , but I will not be using it either . The Sawcut is visible but can hardly be felt . Spring is Flush in both Open and Closed positions but is not quite flush at Half Stop , which does not bother me at all sense I have never cut anything at the Half Stop position . GEC has done a fine job on my 77 Barlow .
Edited to add : The Bolsters do look Very Naked to me though .
