2022 Case Vault - Small Swell Center Jack

Notice the lightning bolt S in the tang stamp.
I'm betting that knife has 2 SS blades.
SHC listed a bunch of new 25-1/2 offerings not too long ago, and every single one of them was sadly Tru-sharp.

I like to hope it will turn out to have a 1095 blade though.

To the earlier commenters wondering about the steel used on the Micarta swell center jacks, it seems that they are coming out in 1095 carbon steel! I wonder why they have chosen 1095 instead of Case's own CV, but I am happy to see a carbon steel knife coming out of Case, no matter the particulars.
After a self-imposed period of no-knife-buying, I think the micarta Swell Center Jack with 1095 steel is going to be the one that breaks the fast! I have been disappointed with the lack of carbon steel offerings, especially in the smaller Case knives, so this is a perfect fit! Now I wish they made a coping secondary and a dozen different handle scale options!

Sadly, yet happily, they are indeed 1095.
I'm happier with the 1095 but was really hoping for a Carbon shield and Stainless blades.
I have to say that the example I got is close to perfect... really good Fit n Finish, no gaps, centered blades, and great action.

I may have to get one of these.
I settled for the redbone because it was better than the only other carbon steel option at the time, but this one will be better yet.
It's still not exactly what I want but probably the best I'm going to get.

Sweet knife!

I was curious how this would turn out. I got a half cv/half stainless Texas Jack in the mail a while back.

Apparently theres a CS white smooth bone with no shield.

I think I might go for one, but I will have to figure out a way to replicate the accidental dye job on my favorite 6208.

I know I had either leather dye or wood stain on my hand that leached off, but beyond that I have no clue how I'd replicate this.

I'm pretty sure you said leather dye when it happened. I still love it. 😍😍😍

Sounds about right.
I don't remember if It just happened and that was it, or if I tried to clean it off with mineral spirits or something that just spread the dye around.

I don't have any more leathe dye right now, so I'll have to either get some more which I need anyways or try something else.

I reckon you said it just happened and so be it, you just left it as it was. :)
Alright.
Then maybe I'll get some more leather dye which I need anyways, fiebings medium brown I think it was.
And I'll order one of these and see if I can do a better job trying to dye the bone intentionally.

I just got the latest catalog from that well known Case dealer out of Montana, and I found one that interests me.

If it is in fact CS like it says then I'm definitely going to get this one in Kentucky bluegrass bone.

It's listed as CS in the catalog and you can see the right tang stamp, but it's listed as SS on their website.
Theres also 2 natural smooth bone offerings that are in question as well.
One with the shield says SS on their site and CS in the catalog, no shield is SS in the catalog but doesn't say on their site.
Both have the tang stamp of a CS knife in their stock photos.

Case doesn't have near all the offerings on their site so they're no help.

It seems like they've done a number of exclusives in this pattern this year and there have been multiple discrepancies in listings for them.

That actually looks pretty good.. now I gotta start playing with dyeing knives... Case's amber bone would be my first attempt.. I know that several of you really like the amber, but I just cannot warm up to it. It must DIE! ...well, dye, anyway.... 😂

I've dyed a couple amber bone knives. I do really like amber bone but I'm also pretty picky about it. If they are to peach colored, or there's not enough contrast in color in the dye they go
