2022 Case Vault - Small Swell Center Jack

I know it's a long shot, but there may be hope for amber jigged and CV after all.

I don't think it's very often that Case does a pattern in both steels with the same cover material but they did it here, I know it's a fancier version but nonetheless it's an SS 6225-1/2 in dark red peachseed bone which is also being used with CV.
This tells us Case is willing to do a particular pattern and cover option in both steels.

It's likely not going to happen and I'm probably pretty safe in my assumption that amber jigged has essentially been reserved to SS blades for the 25-1/2, but it clearly isn't out of the question and I have my fingers crossed.

If it were a possible operation and cost effective I would consider buying 2 knives and having the covers swapped to get the knife I want if I had to.

Why does SHC list them as CS now instead of CV? I’ve noticed it on a few of their listings lately?

Well i kinda hate to bump this thread without them being released but it has to be soon. Torn between yellow comp and dark red bone, I prefer cv but also prefer dark dyed red bone. Some of the new dye jobs look more pink to me. Knife math will probably just have me buying two anyway

You are right, I think the math will work out to where I will have at least 2 of this pattern. Just too many selections offered.

I have the Caribbean Blue Copperhead from last year am looking forward to the same handles this year.

I have a red carbon on reserve... if it's too pink, I will likely experiment with RIT dye... I've seen some guys that use black dye on a red knife to darken it... they actually look pretty nice afterward. I bet that brown would also work well. I've been thinking of dyeing a knife "just because".... this might be the perfect opportunity.

A couple of years ago, I asked a Case rep why CV steel isn't used more often. I was told that the CV steel that Case has been using is old stock that they could no longer procure... And that once it is gone, it's gone. No idea if that's accurate or not, but that's what I was told.

From what I've seen/ experienced they've been doing a good job with their dark red bone the past few years.

That could very well be.... it also could explain why they are calling it "carbon steel" now... makes sense to me.

That makes sense. There's also a video, that I need to find and link, put out just earlier this year, where a rep talks about the new CS stamp. To the best of my memory, he indicated much the same - that they were having trouble getting more CV and had found a good supplier of 1095, which is what the new CS steel is apparently.

Haven't seen any posts from any proud new owners yet. We are the passing the first week of April and still none in sight.

Got a Maple Burl on the way.. Saturday maybe??
John
Please post a picture when you get it.

Case seems to be rolling these out slowly. Maple burl was one I planned on grabbing, my favorite Case dealer had them, hesitated and now out of stock, so back to waiting.
