I get the feeling there will be a lot of these to go around, so fear of missing one is probably not likely... I hope.I’ve got a red bone and grey pocket worn in my cart, I’ll only buy one but simply cannot make up my mind. If I knew Cayenne would be released in CS I’d wait but usually my waiting is what prevents me from ever purchasing a new knife.
Very rarely does case run a knife in both steels with the same cover option so I'm fairly confident in saying that Case has chosen SS for the Cayenne bone and that's it.Is the Cayenne color only in stainless?

Just as I feel they have wasted the amber jigged ON SS in this pattern.
It's a shame that they favored SS so much that they wound up in the position their in with regards to carbon steel, but I hope they realize how much desire their is for it and are able to keep a good stock of it from now on.
I've gotten to the point where I can get as good an edge on the TruSharp as I can on the carbon. I still prefer the carbon, simply because it shows character as it ages, but if all I could find is the TruSharp, I wouldn't be too disappointed. I've gotten a lot better at sharpening, and I figure by the time I'm 85 or so, I'll be downright good at it.\
Yeah this sucks. I'm hoping mine is decent. If not, I'm sending it back. It's 2022, Case should have zero issues putting out a quality product.A bit disappointed in the Crandall Gray jigged pocket worn that just arrived. Both blades are rubbing on the liners and the main blade is a bit proud. The jigging is nothing like on the sodbuster I have. This one doesn’t look pocket worn…more like barely jigged. I got lucky with my sodbuster. I was hoping Case was getting better with QC. I have 3 Case knives and one is like this one. One out of three not so good.
Maybe I’m just awesome it sharpening carbon steel!I find them identical. Agree with the aging for CV. A nice patina mellows the look of the knife as the bolters get worn and scratched with use.
I've found them about the same as well.I've gotten to the point where I can get as good an edge on the TruSharp as I can on the carbon. Good information.I can sharpen both their Carbon and True Sharp very easily.
The True Sharp is kind of soft, so it takes a more delicate touch.
I think people get too aggressive with sharpening True Sharp and it rolls the edge.
I don’t know I kind of like this shade of red. It can ride in my pocket!Mine arrived today and I'm thankful to say that it's great. No gaps, no blade play, good walk and talk, centered blades. No grittiness. It's a very nice sample. That's saying a lot as I'm used to GEC's fit and finish. I really like this guy.
My only "gripe" would be that the red is a little lighter in color than I would prefer.
Have some pics.

It looks like the same person is grinding the 25-1/2 blades, they seem pretty consistent in the amount of minor recurve they've all got.
I didn't go crazy with reworking the edge on my main blade, just touched it up and it has been performing well.Yeah. Agreed. I just realized today that it's not sharp at all. I'm resharpening both blades. The angles are way off and obtuse as shit. Gonna get them right and then hope it holds a decent edge.![]()
I mostly flush with wd-40 and let it evaporate, then flush with water, compressed air from a can (what the computer geeks use), then a drop of oil. I've been using Birchwood Casey synthetic gun oil, 'cause that's what's handy at the momentSo.... you prefer smooth to crunchy?
Actually, I had a knife do that to me, also.... I wonder if flushing with some solvent, like Hoppe's or something like that might "break up" the residue better? I'll have to try that, next time...
