2022 GEC #59 Shaffer Farm Whittler Thread

Wooooweee, Hands down the best knife ever produced by GEC IMHO is the 79 workhorse whittler! Wether it is a sleeveboard 79 or 26 I will be acquiring one of these. I wonder if it's going to be a split back whittler or just three blades though?

Would be cool to see a split back, isn’t there an English whittler that was a split back? Feel like I read that that was a hard knife to assemble and that we wouldn’t likely see another. Or maybe I’m confusing posts/terms ... still new here … apologies in advance to the veterans. Ray
 
Wowza… this one could really be something! A stag whittler with a federal or raccoon shield would be unreal. Really hoping for no acrylic this run

You are correct. They have to have very very tight tolerances. Split backs are pretty collectible. There was a 38 English whittler that were split backs and they are collectible, especially the 2021 rendezvous knife. Very sought after. My favorite split backs were the 33’s they have a few stags that come up here and there for sale.

No idea what’s coming up, but I’d be willing to bet actual money that it won’t be stag with a shield. 😉

Good deal, the memory is still working! I‘ve seen the 38 English whittler and it is right up my alley, beautiful knife! One day I may just have to splurge … if GEC would stop making so many good runs, maybe I could! Will have to check out the 33s as well. Thanks!

Oh of course! Just seems to be the usual situation of them running 2-4 cover variations per run. A stag, a dark jigged bone with a raccoon shield, and a ebony with a federal shield? Heaven ish
