2022 GEC #59 Shaffer Farm Whittler Thread

meant the older knives, realy older knives, thnx
The first time I recall seeing it was on this year’s 35. I don’t recall any older knives with the Tidioute on a propeller.

I’m guessing the NF’s will have the oak barrel covers, or we can expect anther pattern soon.
I think a nice NF run would be nice. I think a lot of us were hoping for one of the 35’s to be a NF variant. Oak barrel covers would be a fantastic choice for these in my humble opinion!

Im sure there is a good reason, but the main spears a tad short to me. but glad this is another one i will not be chasing, may the odds be in your favor

It does appear to be a bit short in the pants. Will be curious to see how it turns out. I was pretty relieved when I saw the acrylic because I don’t have much interest either.

sure there is a good reason, its too challenging, more processes to bring the main blade over the tang in closed position.
that costs much more time and that would mean higher cost and a much more expensive knife.
nobody want to pay $200 for a splittback whittler.
completely understand Bill!

It's for whittling, control and power to the tip are good attributes to have and shorter blades are good for that. If you are getting in a knife fight you may want to select something else.😉

Maybe they aren't using a split backspring; that could account for the shorter master spear.

Many of the split back whittlers I've seen have had a shorter main blade... seems normal to my eyes.
