I like the frame on the #81, but the blade combo doesn't do anything for me.
I agree. The muskrat-type patterns are among my least favorite of all traditional folders (right down there with coke bottles). And much as I am tempted by the yellow rose, I cannot see myself ever using the knife. Some of the different covers are still available on vendors.

This is my favorite pattern that they put out in the past 5 years.

Is there a difference between a Turkish clip and a muskrat clip? Or is it just called a muskrat clip when it’s used in a muskrat pattern?

I think Turkish, muskrat, California's are just a different names for the same blade type. Never noticed any connection between muskrat pattern and muskrat blade.

The Turkish has more belly and a curve in the clip on the spine. Cali the clip starts further from the tang. Muskrat the clip starts very close to the tang. However over time the terms have pretty much morphed into the same blade.
Thanks for the explanation. I couldn’t seem to pull anything up in a search.

The snakewood looks great, I like everything about it except the match-strike nicks. Strangely I like them on long pulls, definitely not a deal breaker for me though
I agree I like long pull match strikes but crescent shaped pulls have a weird eyelash look.

I’m not the biggest muskrat knife fan, but I appreciate the history and these are really well made, sleek easy carry, great handle materials, opening and closing action is solid, spot on. In the long run I think these will be appreciated a lot more than they are currently being received
