2022 GEC Bayou Trapper #88 Thread

Eh, it's a bit quirky - largely because no one expects to see a Lambsfoot blade in a Sowbelly frame. However, if you were to substitute that blade for a full size wharncliffe or spey, folks would likely think it pretty normal.

That, and the imagery that is evoked with the etches, possible shield choices, etc. - it's a bit whimsical. Not unlike the prior run of 36s.
I can feel what you're saying but it's cool to see them step out of the box once in a while. No worse than what some of the tactical makers are calling modern traditional. I guess if you go with either of the wood NF's on those 2 models, you're staying pretty traditional. I just see the Lambsfoot as being a cross between a wharncliffe and a large coping blade. It's a useful design and don't see why it needs to be relegated to just a single blade pattern. Just my 2 cents though.

I see the M.S.R.P. on the acrylic is $175. That's $20 more than the black micarta. I haven't bought an acrylic in a very long time. Is the acrylic usually that much more than micarta?

Crap. I started looking back and can't find any knife where I bought the same one in both materials. The saga continues.

Last knife I bought in both micarta and acrylic was the 85 caplifter. Acrylic was $6 more.
Thanks. Yep, checked some older models on dealer sites where they were still up and MSRP were $10-20 more for acrylic depending on the knife. That kinda surprised me as I thought micarta would be more. I did just read on a forum it's more expensive to produce, and takes more time in polishing. I guess I'll just accept that as the truth. In fact, I saw it higher than some of the wood on the same models.
