First pic is an 81, 88, and 82 lined up, second pic is 88 next to 82, and last pic is the 88 and 82 flipped over.

Great comparison. How does the thickness of the 81 compare to the 88?

The 81 is a pretty close to the 88, if you ignore the stag being thicker than micarta, plus the 81 has cam tangs and square fancy bolsters.

I feel the 82 is closer to the 88, just not as crooked.

Yes it really does. It's deceiving when looking at it. Are you going to carry and use that one?

Absolutely. I really don’t carry all my GEC. But this one I picked up the large GEC leather slip for it. In the pocket it goes.

I got my 88 yeti last evening. The fit and finish are impeccable as expected. The pulls and snaps are pretty much identical to the micarta. Another variation of ebony and ivory.

I have to say, while the black micarta 88 appeals to me more aesthetically than the Yeti version does, I'm glad to see that GEC is having some fun with these and not getting too bogged down in sticking to what is strictly 'traditional.'

I totally agree with you! I don't want to see too many of these off the wall models, but a little variety is cool.

The Ivory Acrylic Yeti arrived today..... Pretty much a carbon copy of the 1st one exc the color......

I like it better in hand with the LF blade deployed than with the clip.... The other way around is less comfortable...... IMO, future single blade versions will be hotter sellers......

All the standard F&F items are spot on...... GEC did a superb job on my copy....

Anybody looking to get rid of a black micarta version please keep me in mind. I tried real, real hard to get on a list when these started production, but I don’t think I have the right connections I’ll be willing to sell a kidney, but just one!
