I have gone back and forth on kitschy shields. There was a time when I would not own one. Now, these are four of my absolute favorite knives! To each his own. Bring on the Gator!

Usually, but not always, GEC will offer a more traditional optional for the purists. To me, the knife has to work with the shield. I agree that some kitschy shields are just wrong.

Oof. While I haven’t been chasing these, ironwood IS my love language. So it’s painful to see these flying about while I’m occupied with life. 😅

E Elgatodeacero glad they took care of you. 👍 As beautiful as ironwood is, it certainly can have voids. Looks like someone got a little over zealous in justifying your original.
 
Kinda bothers me that GEC is sticking to the, let's say, "funny etch" strategy for this year's releases. Also, they released a new pattern (an 88 obviously) and only 1 option (Ironwood) out of 4 (not counting club knives) is of a classic style. Hmm... Doesn't seem like they're loosing popularity and have a need to make fancy knives to draw attention of modern knives' fans. I mean, we get enough fancy stuff from other traditional knifemakers, and I personally always loved GEC for the classic looks. Yeah, sometimes they made some fun, but not that much as lately.
 
What ??????????? Howard was too darn cheap to put a button in the tube with the Ironwood covered Bayou Trappers??? Got one in my Yeti Ivory Acrylic covered Bayou Trapper tube, and in my Black Linen Micarta covered Bayou Trapper tube.

Ed, The majority of the time, NF's don't come with a button.
