2022 GEC H20 fixed blade

is anybody utilizing the lanyard hole on their H20 ?
I never did on my drop point and specifically had Glennbad leave out the lanyard tube when he recovered it in stag, but I'm not sure on my new wharncliffe.
I don't need one, but it would help it from looking too much like a paring knife.

I like having a short lanyard/fob on mine. Makes it easier to pull out of the sheath.

I just threw this one together for mine out of what leather I had left, none of the others made for my drop point were really going to work for this wharncliffe.20230605_191608.jpg
Sometimes I have trouble when it comes to positioning a belt loop where it won't conflict with the welt stitching so I just went with neck carry for now.

How good is the retention on the GEC sheaths? I have one on the way.
With the H20? None at all. Strictly drop in tube type sheath. No retention at all. Its not really made for the H20 specifically.
However, the sheath overall is not good quality. The leather is ok, but its just a single piece folded over and stitched with cheap nylon thread, no welt. This will happen in short order -

So it wasn't just me that did that! I super glued mine back together and it's held good so far. I was surprised to see there was no welt. I was also surpised I didn't cut myself worse than I did.

Yeah it will happen eventually. I'll probably just find a piece of 4oz leather and re-stitch it with a welt. It should have at least been glued together when stitched by the guy who makes them.

Well that is disappointing!

happened to my CK sheath once,

You should post your H205 pls (with the stag), it’s an eye candy for sure. it was the micarta version that put me on the search/hunt for H205 😂 to begin with.
cheers
That's exactly what happened with the CK clip sheath I had.

So, it really bothered me that the snap closures didn't do anything when using the sheath with H20s (they work great with H30s btw). My solution was to add these long leather tails to the lanyard holes and then tuck them in under the snaps. Voilà (definitely not Viola, that's a guitar...) I've got retention when I want it, easy access when I don't, and bonus -- adorably long tails on my portable pair of parers. I wore this rig for a few days and had no seam ruptures but will keep an eye on the area you folks shared pictures of.
