2023 GEC Cody Scout #721123LB

Have been critical of GEC lockbacks in the past but these current run 72s are the best I have seen. One is 100 / 100 zero play. One is 99/100 with only the very, very slightest up and down play noticable at the tip. That might even improve to 100/100 with a little oil and operation. Burlap micarta looks great, lines are straight on one example and slightly angled on the other one which matches the pile side. Am a big 83 fan, carried one for years, but the lock is improved enough for me to want to drive a new 72 for a while. If you are looking for a single clip blade knife to put in your pocket, get one. The only possible improvement would be stainless, but that's just one opinion. Good job and thank you to all the workers at GEC.

I received this one in the mail today. As Chief indicated, the lock up is improved. It has a smidge of up and down movement, but I had to really look for it. I did have to file down the kick to lower a proud tip, but this was easily done and did not affect the back spring which is perfectly smooth, tight, and flush. I do think someone in the factory forgot to burn my sienna!

That’s definitely a looker! I had a chance for a bone one but decided to wait for a jigged bone one 🤞. For me it’s like choosing a stag, you don’t know what you’re going to get. I’m very pleased with my burlap micarta.

Very nice. May I ask the vendor? I was lucky enough to get my name on a list (CK) but have not received an email notification to purchase.

Very nice! I was thinking about getting one of these as I kind of like the bone without jigging. But, I did luck into a burlap micarta and it's grown on me. I'd love to see a pile side pic of yours though! Haven't seen many of these burnt sienna's in the thread yet.

Got this one on Sunday! This has some of the most three-dimensional natural bone covers I've acquired which is my preference. I love the ridges. The lock-up is completely solid. No movement at all.

Outstanding! Covers' texture matches the shield perfectly. Makes me ponder if I should consider Tiddy bone version. Too much risk here getting an almost coal-like burned bone, which isn't my preference at all.

Just curious, what is the retail price for the new burlap handle 72?
