You got some great bone slabs, John!100% solid all four directions, beautiful burnt sienna bone with slight concave on both sides (which I like). Great job GEC, bring on the long pulls!
I've been thinking about taking this handle to the grinder and removing the finger hump in the handle, effectively 74-izing it. There's definitely enough room between the edge and the pin, and I haven't modified something like that in a minute. What'cha think,

its a small world, thats originally the kind of mod i was thinking if i got my hands on an 83! Actually, id go a bit further and round out the end there too while you're at it.

I like this one! Thought the 83 was my favorite lockback from GEC, but this is sweet.

Anyone else have just a slight amount of up and down movement on their 72? I haven't flushed the joint yet, I'm sort of hoping there is just some gunk in the way keeping it from being tight, hoping and praying. To be fair it's not much movement, but it's there.

There is always some vertical movement in every lockback construction. Even Cold Steel's Tri-Ad lock version of LB has that movement if pushed up and down with enough force. My advice here is just relax, forget it, and enjoy the knife.

My Buck 112 begs to differ
But either way, I know I am a bit more picky than most rational people so I will take your advice. We will see what flushing does to it.
