2024 GEC 321224

It's hard to visualize with out covers but seeing as there are still 39's and 78's to get I'm passing on on the 32 unless I can get a dealer drop in stag lol.

I carried an Ulster very similar to but shorter than the 32 every day for 40 years and never thought twice about it . That was the only good knife that I had . I will probably never use a 32 but I will try to get a Stag one . I do like the pattern and the size .

It's been awhile since I've been able to scoop up a GEC in good Stag. I'll be trying for one as well. That said, GEC's Hemlock Jigged is some of my favorite bone from them so I'd be sorely tempted there as well, depending on how they do the jigging and how well the color turns out.

I have this Queen City swell center that is quite a good knife. It will be nice to experience GEC's interpretation of it.

I guess I am not familiar with the Hemlock Jigged Bone . What models was it on ??? I hope you can pick up bothStag & Hemlock my friend .
Who made t your Puukko ? It looks well made . Just so you know , I also have a weakness for the Puukko . Also your Queen has some pretty nice Stag on it .

Thank you, Harry. That is one of my most carried and used Puukkos. I'm afraid that the blade and sheath show a lot more love now. The blade was forged by Saku Honkilahti - I had another puukko on order with him (with a birch bark handle) but sadly he passed away last year. The handle and sheath were made by Tommi Mäkelä - from what I understand he and Saku were good friends.

Regarding the Hemlock bone. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. Historically, GEC has called it Hemlock Green or simply Hemlock. From the examples I have seen and own/have owned, it is a deep brown color with a propensity towards having dark red highlights. We saw it on our 2021 forum knife (sawcut), a 66 Calf Roper back in 2017 (jigged), and a 47 Viper in 2016 (jigged). I think there have been earlier examples as well but the specifics escape me at the moment.

I still have the Barlow but I traded the 66 a few years ago (much to my regret).

Being a fan of the moose with a clip and a Spear that would be nice, but having the 81 moose alleviates that some what, any one know if 32 will have half stops.

The 33 doesn’t have half stops. The 34 does, which might not be the best. They don’t have the same satisfying “thwack” on a double end pen configuration as on a jackknife.

Which is to say, I love my 34, I actually wanted it to have half stops. But now that I’ve gotten it out of my system I can admit that on pens the cam tangs seem to work better.

The red in the "green" bone is a beauty...

I wouldn't have thought these would be my style, but the more i see them coming together, the more i really want to get my hands on one!
I am the opposite, understood that this is my thing from the very beginning, but really unsure about cover choice for now. Got to see the bone jigging and actual color tone.

And i imagine there is still some finishing work to be done that would include rounding them out more than in this shot.
Looks like they’re just assembled, will need final sanding and buffing to shape and finish.
Sounds like you guys should be right on those.

I've been keen on these since I saw Travis's photos from the rendezvous. I hope I can get a stag, wood or bone 32!

I just picked up the 32 ESPL. In the past I never found myself interested in anything other than single blade knives. That was until I discovered how handy they are as a small game knife. Now I can’t seem to pass em up.

That Cocobolo 32 is truly a good looking knife. If it is as well made as the last couple patterns, it will be a definite classic. Funny how preferences change. There was a time when I preferred the Northfield’s. Now I gravitate toward the simpler Tidioute’s without lined bolsters. Also, long pulls look good, but they are not as comfortable for me to use as a nail nick.

Weirdest thing just happened. I noticed that I got an email about these from a retailer about 2 minutes earlier. Normally, that's waaay too late for me to get a GEC on the drop, but now I have a Antique Yellow Spring Field Bone on the way.

This is my 3rd GEC (aside from forum knives). I feel like I should step outside for a bit and walk in the woods to clear my head.
Lightning strikes twice!

This time it gets even weirder. I was browsing through this thread, and I thought "Man, that's a good looking knife. No way I'm going to get one of those." On a whim, I opened up a GEC dealer's page and there it was! Just sitting there! Now I have an ESPL 32 heading my way.
