Speaking of white bone 78’s….

Oldy Oldy , you asked about this run of 78’s compared to the last run. They are quite different. The longer bolster and extra blade on the recent run make it look and feel completely different. At first glance you would not think they are the same pattern. Both runs have excellent action with a nice firm spring and loud snap. The earlier rum might be slightly better in the walk and talk, but not by much. Both are great knives however, some of the best ever made by GEC.

I'm sure I'm not the first to ask -- but, who did those scrimshaw covers? That is just fantastic. 😍

Thanks Greg, thar scrimshaw has a wow factor, the 78's having supposedly the same body look quite a bit different look.the new 78 looks smaller but fatter but I'm sure it's just an optical illusion

you seem to luck out in the cocobolo department, the end caps seem to slim out the pattern, your first 78 from 2017 looks like it is blond with black streaks as opposed to dark brown with blond streaks like latest 15 Boys knife.but what's not to like about cocobolo.

I am pretty pleased with the Cocobolo I ended up with. It's light, subtle, and has the ghostly impressions of burl here and there.

I've always admired 78s for their action, GEC has that walk and talk dialed in really nice. This new one needs a good flushing and some breaking in but it ranks up there with the best of them.

It's a really nice pocket knife.

if someone has the old 77 long pull clip, please put them together, im curious to see a comparison, thanks
Per your request Jack : The Northfield 77 shown is from the early 2015 SFO run . There was a change to the 77's Clip Blade sometime after that to make it Pinchable , which I never did like . Both of these knives are fine knives . The 78 is just a little longer and little wider . Obviously the 77 is a barlow and the bolster is much longer . The Blades are pretty close to the same length but there are a lot of differences after that . Pay attention to the Blade Swedges and Width of Cutting Edge to Spine . Both of these knives have and will be users . Just starting with patina on the 78 .

Thank you Harry, really appreciate ya taking the time to do all those angles for me, I do love my 77 clips and have been fortunate to obtain some in the old days that remain in the collection. I dont know about these 78s, even the single. No fomo here for me, im still on the 39s and just sealed a deal to complete the rest of the general releases. Hope you and Nancy are doing well!
