I’ve been hearing reports that blade rap is a thing on this new release. Hopefully it’s not too common.

I have an older one from the first run that has some minor blade rap. I think it’s just due to having such a relatively tall blade it’s gonna end up close to the spring. Maybe just be careful letting it snap shut until you know if it will hit the spring or not.

I have had blade rap on 3 different patterns that I bought off the exchange,one was really bad causing major chipping but 2nd sales are not covered under warranty so I used a leather strip placed between the back spring and the tang,the other I sanded down the hump in the back spring were the blade was hitting and the other I sharpened the blade untill it didn't touch,but since then I really don't let a blade snap shut unless I close it with my leg while working,now if someone wants to sell me a 16 I will gladly check it out.

Good to see one of the Rogers Brown. This one apparently has been a popular one. Very classic looking. Waiting on mine.

Here’s the wood handle canoe if you’re looking for one. The maple leaf shield doesn’t look right on bocote.

It doesnt make sense to use bocote in the “Maple limited edition Series”, especially when maple, even fancy maple, is easy to source.

I love bocote covers, but the TKC SFO is a little nutty.

I agree, it was a nice identifiable SFO. They had some nice runs. Now it doesn’t make any sense, just seems weird.

They should have done some wood in the regular run. Some osage or bloodwood would have looked nice on these 16s.

I agree, it was a nice identifiable SFO. They had some nice runs. Now it doesn’t make any sense, just seems weird.

Maybe something happened with the batch of maple they planned to use and they had to switch quickly to something GEC had on hand?

That bloodwood looks sweet. I owned a tulip wood canoe a long time ago, and I regretfully passed it on.

I believe GEC has only used this wood on two patterns. Once on the #16 canoe and once on the #45 roughneck/lumberjack

It’s from the original run I think it was 2012. Crazy we’ve been waiting so long for another run of canoes

That is nice! I do have good taste after all . I would only prefer something other than the hotdog shield.

This one was part of the regular tidioute batch that run. It’s a 1 of 5 so an uncommon version of an uncommon (until recently) pattern. The Bloodwood really suits the pattern very well in my mind… gleaming bolsters and shield broken up by some nice rich red wood.

Those are both great examples. I miss that shield.

I’m still waiting on my first #16. I’ve got a Tidioute jigged bone on its way.
