.22 Pistol Kill- I have to brag

Nice rig, my wife's .22 pistol is the same model, 22/45 with 6 7/8 slabside. You don't see to many long barreled slabsides, thats a great gun.

Nice shot, I plan on getting another .22 sometime soon because they are the most fun guns to shoot.

Nice shooting brother, but from the looks of the pic I'd say a squirrel vampire got to him first.. better make sure you finish him off with a little stake through the heart

Good one !! We aren't allowed handguns here, but I'd love to take one hunting.

I have strong ethics when it comes to hunting, and I have to support you in saying I don't think you did anything wrong. I'd have tried to do exactly the same thing if it was a safe shot. If I am ever in your neighborhood, I want to come to you for a bit of pistol coaching.

Best wishes and happy hunting to all..... Coote.

If you ever end up on the east coast (US) P.M. me or Email me and I would be glad to take you out shooting.

I have a Ruger MK1 from the late 60's early 70s, this gun has cycled 1,000s if not more, not a single stove pipe or misfire.

The most accurate off the shelf gun I've owned and IIRC the old man paid $50 for it new, I wonder what the original series are sellin' for these days?

If I had to pick pistol for small game it'd be the one I took.:D

For once, no I wasn't. This was simply a shot to test 'skill.' It had nothing to do with the practice of gathering food, which is what hunting is all about. As an avid hunter, this kind of stuff riles me up a bit because it simply portrays us as ignorant a$$es who just shoot to shoot. He plainly said it was done on a bet...That's just my .02

Hunting is hunting, pest control is pest control. If these two things can happily coincide, great. If not, both are legitimate uses of firearms.

We live on 103 acres in the middle of nowhere. We have chickens, and there are plenty of critters that like to eat chicken, just like us. Or eggs. But I have no intention of sharing my chickens or eggs with every damned coon or possum that happens by, and I don't eat them after shooting them dead, either.

Squirrels taste good, but they are also rodents which can be very destructive to structures. They also chase off songbirds and eat or waste lots of bird feed, not to mention the damage they do to the feeders. One squirrel is a guest, two can be fun, more means you have nothing but squirrels. As rodents they reproduce like rats, and can overpopulate in a heartbeat.

Sorry man, but to imply that "hunting" is the only legitimate use of firearms is off base and does a disservice to your fellow gun owners. Yes, I said gun owners, which is not necessarily the same thing as "hunters".

Just another example of the kind of thinking that does more harm than good.

Lets not turn this into a semantic debate boys...Dude made a good shot...his buddy will eat the meat, he'll tie some flies, and he won 50 beans to boot sounds like a good day..I wouldn't take a 50 yard shot on a squirrel with a handgun...But I know my limitations..THe author seems like he does as well. Props on some great shooting there cowboy. Lets just spread the love...Md. I don't think I've seen much of you around here BTW so Welcome...

GOD, I want one of these pea shootin' pistols so bad. You guy's are just makin it WORSE!!

Nice shot by the way.

I've spent many a day in the woods with my Ruger Mark I and a Rossi Coach gun, hunting rabbits, quail, pheasant and squirrel.

I would only use the pistol on sitting rabbits and the occasional squirrel. It was the second handgun I bought, and I still have it.
