$300.00 to $500.00 mark ups???

Oh yea.... :thumbup::thumbup:
I thought it would hit $800
That is a beautiful blade...
If I had the money available I would of gotten down on that auction..
Darn ganzaaa..

I woulda been happy paying that price for the one UDDwaine snagged the other day off the bay, especially after the surprise twist regarding the logo on the wrong side!

Seriously, I shoulda bid on that one. I'm a dummy.

I think with these prices, we will see the SFNO re-released SOON.

If you all haven't noticed Boss Hogs new approach...
as soon as a blade style starts to bring a premium, he re-releases it. ;)

I mean come on... if anyone should capture the $$$ for a knife, its Jerry...
He designed it and made it after all.

If you think about it, he did it with several blade styles already...
and if you all hadn't noticed, he's taken a real bite out of the secondary market
with all that he's been putting out there.

Be patient... you will see the SFNOs again.

Still kicking myself for not driving up to Knob Creek.

You old Hog....Not to argue, but the way it's spun denotes a little negative conotation.

I agree that Jerry deserves the lions share etc, but if you look at his genius.

Jerry is always holding the carrot so to speak. He always has the newest , latest, and greatest.

Then Skunk gets seconds and the rest of us get thirds. So the best any of us ever have is OLD NEWS! .

I have heard folks say thats why no selling on home forum cause its like having a table next to Jerry at Blade. Well, even if you had a table at blade with the Best Jerry's ever made.

you still couldn't compete:p

"New" VS "old News" Jerry has "what is" and we have "what was"

Its like having an ATARI sitting next to PS 3. You loose.

Plus at the table next to ya....."You get to shake the MAN"S hand"

Your screwed. You still only get leftovers period.

So, I don't think Jerry is out to take away from secondary market.

If anything at all--- he is helping to drive it. As he should be.

You think it doesn't give Jerry and rest of folks at Busse great pride when a knife explodes on here or elsewhere? It's all still due to them.

Yeah, the seller may have made more profit than Jerry himself. So what, Jerry understands that that will drive more current and future sales.

Keeping him prosperous for eternity.

See if Busse, Randall, Behrings , Emersons whoever started trying to raise prices 30-50% to capture all the money do you think there would be as much demand for their knives. None of them have ever skyrocketed prices to keep pace with secondary market. If they did, they would wipe out secondary market and hence themselves.

See in the real world "Pigs get fat and Hogs get slaughtered"

The past is just that ---The PAst.

If you think $700 CG SFNO's isn't good for business. You better re-think.

I am one not for price gouging. I saw Mag HR's come out of last Ganza with $100 profits or better and still climbing up to $500 most recent sales. Thats almost 50% profit in a couple months. I am willing to bet Jerry didnt make that much after cost, labor, overhead etc. originally. I think a 10-15% fee is reasonable. But if you get a steal why should you give yours away if they're bringing 2x.

No one should apologize for two fools duking it out in an auction. It only takes two to get crazy. Hell, cheer them on. THats old school economics.

Who wants it the most. Look only couple hundred years ago. If you had all the horses--my tribe would just come and take what we needed.

It s no different now. We just do it with money.

The secondary Market is what makes the Knife Business, or there wouldn't be one. Atleast, not the way we know it.

Why else would Lunde have 15+ ASH-1's, why does Jaxx buy 27 of each, why would I try collecting every tan/tan ever made, and so many others buying what they buy?.

Yeah first and foremost the fun, the friends, therapy, way safer than running around on the wife, and cheaper too.:D:thumbup:

And Finally its the hope that your Ash-1s wll be $700 in a few years

It Is What It Is . CRAZY . Just wait They Will Come Back Down In Time , Or Go Up ? No Matter What Time is Gonna Pass . :)

I totally disagree here. Busse has a long standing policy not to re-release knives of the past. He's done this so that the collector value of the existing pieces does not plummet.

I seriously doubt you will see SFNO's as a regular production item. You will see them as ganza knives but that is all. And I agree with his policy. Besides he continually comes up with new designs and one day he may make the perfect design and we will all be happy for it. Can't dwell on the past.

The only exception to this was the ASH1, but it really isn't an exception because it was never made of INFI originally so you could say that it is not a re-release of an INFI knife.

Yes, I am sure many would love to see a re-release of the original Badger, which is probably the nicest 4.5 inch bladed knife out there, but since it was made out of INFI in later years, I cannot imagine Busse comming out with it. In fact I would bet that if that was done, you might see a mass exodus of formerly loyal hogs.

BINGO!!!!!

not sure about a mass exodus to Busse, , but a mass exodus on valued investments is likely, but not a gaurantee either.

Look at an old Randall Vietnam era green tenite. The value hasnt crashed due to Behrings making a similar new product that they supply for customers to send into RMK. THe new tenites are going for what a similar new Randall woruld go for.

The new ones , even SFNO's, will be gobbled up if re-issued( which I am hoping for) and made great beaters, but the originals will always demand a premium from collectors.

Why indeed? I don't think it fair to renounce those who just ask what the market will bear. Just don't buy from them. Listen, I have sold many in the past for a good chunk over their original selling price. Did I twist anyone's arm to do it? No. I set a price based on my research of past sales, if someone wants it they buy it, if not it sits. I drop the price a bit and see how she goes. I may drop a price several time before one goes. In that case I am not the one setting the price, the market is. Like I have said every time this issue rears its head, if you think prices are too high, don't buy. The prices will adjust or the seller sits on his stash.

As for Uncle_Jarvis' sale thread and price raising. I think he was making a point, at least I hope so. :) I have only seen one other guy raise a price and actually sell the knife, he needed it so I commend him for giving it a try.

Let us not rush to the countryside with our torches and pitchforks just yet.

Uncle J was doing just that! Funning.

Hence him posting it at 2:00 am. He would've freeaked out if someone took him up on it.

Not to say he wouldnt of sold it.. but I doubt it seriously.

Anybody ever seen another Green Skeleton Key?

I think its the only one( not) and a heck of a companion for his SFNO:D:thumbup:

But don't believe me.

I sit in the peanut gallery:D

hell I may just put my 1 of 40 Ruck for sale for $3000 :D since it is rarer than the SFNO, SHBA, SHSH, SHBM, etc......:D maybe I'll start at 2999:D

I haven't been around here that long, but I've seen some knives value increase in leaps and bounds. I think part of that is supply and demand, and part of it is people with plenty of disposable income wanting the knife and willing to pay what's asked. It reminds me of real estate....I see houses all the time sell for far more than what I think they're worth. The problem is some people do think they're worth it, so they set the going rate.

The SFNO is the Busse I would most like to have, yet the way things are now unless it gets re-released I'll probably never own one. :grumpy: I buy them to use rather than set in a safe and it appears to me to be just about the perfect knife. Oh well, c'est la vie n'est pas?

I think the ASH1LE or an SE would do everything a SFNO would do and at half the price. If you don't want satin, the SE's can be had lately for close to what the LE is priced at.

You may well be correct, but I just can't warm to the ASH1 (he said as he put on kevlar, ducked for cover and swore he wasn't a heretic). I'm not a fan of spearpoints, and the handle shape appears to me too restrictive to different grips. I've never held one so that may not be true, but that's what I perceive from looking at pics. I have a Mud Razor and it will probably do everything the SFNO would as well.....but I still want a SFNO. It's a sickness I tell you.
